I am a former professor of political science and history, now retired. I was born and grew up in Indiana and have been a resident of South Carolina for the past 25+ years. I was politically a Democrat in my younger years, but have since moved away from that party. I now vote for a few candidates who are Democrats, a few who are Republicans and some Libertarians. I would like to promote the idea that political campaigns should be about ideas and character, and neither a horse race (as the media present it) nor a hate fest, as too many bloggers portray it.
A column written from an independent perspective on electoral politics. The purpose is not to promote a party or candidate but to explore and evaluate the policy positions of all candidates and all parties.
