The current imperialistic ventures of the U.S. Empire are centered in the Middle East. The rationale for the current occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan, used to sell the American public, is the war on terror. We are making the Middle East safe for Democracy, just like Vietnam. The accurate nature of the conflict revolves around oil, the lifeblood of American suburban sprawl culture.

Sarah Palin's nationally broadcast keynote address at the Neo-Conservative Tea Party Convention in Tennessee was a textbook lesson in turning small government principles into neo-conservative principles.
Those listening carefully to Sarah Palin at the Tea Party Convention should have no doubt, political animals are attacking tea party activists in earnest.
Even if they had good intentions, dinosaurs went extinct for a reason. So it will be with Republocrat career politicians.
Aficionados of Ostentation
by John Kozy (centrist liberal libertarian, February 7, 2010)
Do those who buy the paintings of long dead artists and fund buildings for artistic performances do so because they truly love the arts or because they want to boast, "Look what I can afford to do!"? There was a time when wealth supported artists. That practice died out sometime after the sixteenth century. What goes on today borders on the absurd. While huge amounts of money are being spent, the artists themselves are being neglected. This is not love of art for art's sake; it's merely benefactor aggrandizement.
After a decade of ongoing Chemtrails and being in the midst of an ongoing “economic (non)crisis” this issue (among many others) should be a cause of outrage for the citizens of our nation--it is past time to demand an explanation--why is our government spending our tax dollars in this manner!?! It is past due for us to demand an explanation--or is our Government no longer accountable to the constituency that elects it to office!?!
Codifying gays serving openly in the military will cost taxpayers more money, violates the privacy rights of military servicemen, and enshrines weakness as acceptable in the military

Gays already serve in the military, and are forced to live a life of secrecy and half-truths to avoid recriminations. DADT should be ended with a simple penstroke by the Commander-in-Chief.

Last week, the Republicans in the Senate once again showed that they are a big part of what is wrong with Washington.
The article addresses the different groups who make up the Conservative movement, why governing is difficult because of the diversity of the groups, and the challenges conservatism faces in the future.
A false doctrine, separation of Church and State, used to silence conservatives is violated by the Liberals to salvage the dying socialist national health care proposals.

JOBS OF THE FUTURE
by Jim Quinn (libertarian, January 27, 2010)
Despite the Federal Reserve’s extraordinary printing and the U.S. Government’s extraordinary spending measures during the last twelve months, it looks like the only job categories with growth potential are printing press operator, ditch diggers, ditch fillers, whatever they call the guys handing out trillions in government largesse, Treasury Department comedians tickling Chinese funny bones by saying they favor a strong U.S. dollar and people installing Stimulus signs at highway projects.
Comments emerging from a world forum of top economists and investors in Davos, Switzerland this week raise the question: do economists really not "get it", or are they engaging in more smoke-and-mirrors?
