Q4. What is your policy regarding writer conduct?
We expect all of our writers to be civilized, which means
to not engage in ad hominem attacks. For those people
who don't know the Latin, ad hominem means
"against the man" or "against the person".
Thus an ad hominem attack would be a personal attack, rather
than an attack based on the facts.
We have no problem with people arguing strongly, even
vehemently for their positions based upon the facts. But we
will not tolerate writers who base their attack on demeaning
the personalities of other writers, readers, or residents of
America. Foul language used to demean someone else
falls into this category as well.
While we don't have a strict anti-foul-language
requirement, we do ask that writers keep their writing clean,
whenever possible.
Also, all writers are expected to write their own stuff.
Plagiarism is strictly forbidden. If you want to quote someone
else's work in your writing, make sure you give the
appropriate source attribution, including URLs if available.
This policy applies to both Contributing and Professional
writers on the site and to Readers' Comments.
