Just the Facts.
by Craig Chilton (centrist)
About The Author
My father was a Protestant minister, and my mother was a middle school teacher. My background includes 10 years of middle school teaching, some years as a tech writer for a corporation, pursuit for ten years of a little-known but widely-performed travel job, followed by 30 years of heading a book publishing company that I founded.
In the early 1960s, I was an worker/activist in Mississippi in the Civil Rights Movement during the summertime, while a college student. Since and including that time, I have been a strong and outspoken advocate for all sensible and fair personal liberties and for full access of equal rights for all people. Including gays, as a straight ally in their quest to be treated as equals.
I've travelled the world in most continents and dozens of countries, which has vastly widened my worldview. And I've seen firsthand that no matter what countries I visit, and what ideologies their governments may have, people are very much the same everywhere, and generally have much the same needs and concerns. They all deserve to be free, and they all deserve to be treated fairly. And helping to make this world a better place should be a high priority for everyone who in any manner has that capability.
About The Column
Presents views generally regarded as socially-liberal, but I prefer the term, "egalitarian," in defense of a wide range of personal liberties. From the standpoint of being a mainstream and fair-minded mainstream Protestant Christian. Vis-a-vis, in most cases, the stances and agendas of the religious right. In so doing, I will present many solid facts to back my arguments. Hence, the name I have chosen for the column.
