Mike Blevins

Fire On High
by Mike Blevins (libertarian)

About The Author

I am a former Christian Conservative who feels abandoned by the Republican Party, which I have supported for nearly three decades. I am now a member of the Libertarian Party. I score 100% on the Nolan Chart test. Some might wonder why I don't support the Constitution Party, since it is more "christian" in its orientation. Actually, I'm uncomfortable with a sectarian approach--but I also support the rights of those who choose to be politically active from a religious point of view. I'm still a Christian and still a conservative--but with a distinct libertarian orientation. In fact, I'm becoming more and more libertarian every day. I see absolutely nothing in libertarianism that conflicts with my religious viewpoint. God is a libertarian. He intended that we all take ownership of our lives, take responsibility for our use of the freedom he gives to us, and give others that freedom also. Most of all, we are never to turn over control of our lives to any government.

About The Column

My desire is to awaken the American voter from the 'slumber' imposed by politics as usual. People have become so accustomed to being scammed by the Republicans and Democrats that they have lost all vision of a better way. I believe libertarianism is the better way--the original way intended by the Founders! Getting my fellow Americans to give up their love affair with statism, socialism, and high taxes is my mission in life.
