Seneca

The Matrix of History
by Seneca (conservative libertarian)

About The Author

I am an innovative historian specializing in the Morphology of History who has personally had multiple experiences of Life and Study in different countries, times, political systems and even careers (in Europe and in America). The simultaneous breadth and depth of my World-view allowed me to progress in my own scholasticism.

I have found natural Life to represent the most powerful laboratory of historical analysis imaginable - the one that surpasses both in significance and in practical value all the petri dish-filled science labs the World over.

I believe that World-as-History is a result of a continuous self-confession, a product of an understanding that is deeply biographical and, at the same time, oriented towards the significance of an evolving Life marked by a certain pre-formed Destiny. All Life is in fact marked by a pre-destined course. This enables all the species, who are fit for survival from the get-go (unlike what Darwinism falsely tells us) in Life to fulfill themselves through both Growth (unconscious side of Life) and Activities (conscious side of Life).

About The Column

It is symptomatic of the role of History-writing (sanitized historiography) that in every history textbook that exists (either past or present) in the United States (but in other countries to a degree also) - the focus of a series of history books whose topics are "in vogue" or "the focus of debates" - is always on things that have no deep relevance to the contemporary political actuality and what drives it! - but always on politically-safe topics of yesteryears. Example, one will find assembly line book publishing that serves the role of filling bookshelves with safe topics on .... e.g. "(Mercantilist) Slavery", "French Revolution", "Russian Revolution", "Female Suffrage Act", "Kennedy Presidency", "USSR", etc., etc. but a precious little (by comparison) on factors that make the present World-situation what it is.

For this very reason - American Plantation-Slavery (a muscle energy-source exploitation) in the USA was removed only at that historical point at which it could be safely replaced as the engine of industrialism by coal as a newer and more powerful energy-source. And paper-mills of establishment historians unfazed keep safely churning up historically-meaningless regurgitations on the evils of Slavery once this institution no longer serves any practical purposes for the "powers that be." This kind of writing is always several steps behind actuality.

My column will explain ongoing events with respect to their deeply symbolic and also historically-evidenced meaning, probing deeply into the Past to understand the Future. Comparisons, using historical analogies and homologies, will be the yardstick, the key tool of this critical analysis of political events - with hard historical facts as the foundation.

My column is rooted in an approach to and understanding of the World that is essentially ethically Socialist - in the same necessary meaning in which Dr. Oswald Spengler first defined it in his far-reaching lecture "Prussianism and Socialism." There is no practiced Western philosophy of Life (and the one that would have emerged as that, as the guiding light of a late urbanized West-European-American Civilization is missing - unlike that which happened to other proud humanities of History - recall Buddhism, Stoicism, Sufism, Confucianism). I propose that modern proletarian lifestye, aka age of the consumer, killed the very possibility. Still, there are systematic philophies in the West - popular with academicians - which are inapplicable to the World at large and have no formative living value for the youth.

My column will present everything in the light of a missing final philosophy fitting for the Western historical Spirit..

"The inward Form of significant Life which, unaware and unobserved, inspires every thought and every action."

- Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Furthermore, the bottom baseline of my column is the all-important distinction in Life between being and seeming to be, the difference of an understanding of Life (History in form for activities) that is theoretical from an understanding of Life that is actual.

As poet Ovidius noted: "PARVA LEVES CAPIUNT ANIMOS" ('insignificant spirits are won over by petty acts') - one can conversely say that petty happenings must be sifted out of the World-picture presented by History-proper in order to establish what is significant from whaty isn't. Moderm Media is extremely unhelpful in this regard.

"Historic is that which is, or has been, effective....Only through historical treatment does the individual process, lifted by History from among the infinite mass of contemporary processes, become the historic event."

- Dr. Eduard Meyer of Berlin University

History Is Shaped by Powerful Minorities

The historical counterweight to the rule of city-law has always been the rights of the successful party. For Sons of Nature at heart - paper-rights that somehow guarantee their freedom in the Nature of Cosmos would feel like an insult! That is why - for the sons of a city - paper rights are everything because they surrendered themselves to a prescribed and so all the more artificial methods of existence, in prison-like corridors and shielded by walls from the country at large. It is a fact that for a peasant of sound stock, in Europe, and in fact, the world over, these liberal ideas of freedom never amount to anything of substance. He is also far too shrewd not to see through an intellectual city-dweller. It is just thanks to the shallow roots of American existence on the soil of North America that prevented anyone from having a peasant relation to the soil (not even the hunter-gatherer native Indians, for the most part, had that sort of relation). Instead, America used to have farmers. Farmers are, by definition, just managers of land, its exploiters who can move-on whenever it suits them to do so. A peasant, on the other hand, stakes his existence on his roots in the soil, on his actual possession of the land. Like a plant, he is the fullest animal expression of pure plantlike growth, a race at its clearest level. I am sure that Sorel wanted to be another Plato with his ideal republic in hand, all perfectly outlined on a scroll. It's just that Sorel, unlike the brave Plato, never attempted to put his ideals into practice, so he can feel the bitter nature of failure or the defeat of idealism. I suppose Sorel chose the easier path - and hypocritically attempted to convince his audience that this ideal exists in practice somewhere.....

An Anlysis of Tenets of Islamic Propaganda
Published: August 24, 2008
"Living faith includes the doubt about itself, the courage to take this doubt into itself and the risk of courage." /Paul Tillich (Dynamics of Faith, p.102)/ Even Jesus so honestly expressed this doubt in those dark moments in the garden of Gethsemane. From that standpoint alone - one can consider modern American Christianity and its nemesis, Arabian Islam, as examples of something OTHER than living faiths - from a historical standpoint. The actual beliefs are something privately held and OTHER than the Orthodoxy. Islamic propaganda wants us to believe in an ahistorical truth, is aiming to convert Westerners with that! Has History lost the power of evidenciary analysis? Luther's motto: "Sola fides sufficit" /Justification by faith alone/ must still apply because nobody knows nor can know the whole truth, but the path to the Truth must be set rightly.

The Age of World Wars, Part One
Published: August 23, 2008
No one can say today whether any of these powers will still be in existence in their present form by the middle of the 21st century. United States, a region more than a State, a fashion in outlook more than an example of perseverance, England's outlook shaped by the 1933 Oxford Student Union "proclamation" and limited to her island, France nearly a Communistic dictatorship of a clique under a facade of democratic pageantry, Germany a country of dreamers unable to escape the petty consequences of its provincial outlook going back to the breakup of the Medieval Reich.. but this dilapidated situation marking a lack of fitness for tasks of Statehood has its origins in a crisis which has steadily been evolving for the past 250 years - and its final peripeteia (complication) is yet to explode on the World scene.

The Role of Radovan Karadzic /Sub Specie Aeternitatis/ ("From the Standpoint of Eternity")
Published: August 22, 2008
The indictment of the wartime Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic - is threaded very lightly in the Media - and for a good reason. The internationalist diplomat (in American clothes) who, for the sake of power, made a deal "with the Devil" in 1996 certainly knows why.
