About The Column
Jim Morrison once told us "You're all a bunch of f#cking slaves." He was right: WE are all a bunch of slaves ...primarily because of our persistent efforts to persuade ourselves that we are "free" in utter defiance of the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Our lack of freedom is the inevitable consequence of our lust for power ...a lust which is all too frequently the product of our belief that we can regain our freedom by securing power over others. Like Aesop's proverbial dog ...there is no greater threat to our own liberty than our own jealousy for the liberties and property of others and our determination to have power over them. My hope is to write articles exploring this insidious tendency within each of us in the hope that we might have a better chance of learning to avoid it. James Hines
