Stories At The Margin
by Jeff Peters (conservative)
About The Author
I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. My mother is from the Dominican Republic, and my father is a first generation American. I am a University of Chicago undergrad seeking a bachelors in economics. I appreciate works from all sides of the economics spectrum, including Adam Smith and Milton Friedman, to Karl Marx and John Kenneth Galbraith. I came to the University of Chicago to meet the libertarian Chicago Boys. However, after reading many different pieces of work from different economists, I came to realize that all have important contributions to economic and social theory.
About The Column
The theme of my column is economics in the tradition of the neo-classical school. I take economics and try to understand the world by applying models used by today's academic economists. However, I apply the models that are proven useful as opposed to provide actual research on issues. Thus far, my current research skills will not provide for proper and thorough empirical analysis. Instead I take models that best fit a situation and try to derive a conclusion. My application may or may not be correct.
