About The Column

Thoughts on issues and controversies from an anarchist (libertarian-socialist, left-libertarian) perspective. I personally tend to favor the individualist end of the anarchist spectrum, but I'm interested in the entire libertarian movement and endorse "anarchism without adjectives".

Major influences include Robert Anton Wilson, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Hakim Bey (Peter Lamborn Wilson), Kerry W. Thornley,  the Situationists, Ken Knabb,  Jello Biafra, Peter Kropotkin, Benjamin Tucker, Max Stirner, William Blake, etc.

Column topics include the evils of statism and capitalism, underreported news, alternative media, science fiction and fantasy, etc.

I am owner of Smygo, a news  list that carries material of interest to anarchists and activists:

A Libertarian Alternative to the EFCA
Published: February 28, 2009
The EFCA (Employee Freedom of Choice Act) would allow workers to immediately unionize a workplace where 50+% of the workers have signed union cards. Free-market advocates object on the ground that this represents government interference in the market. This ignores the great amount of govenrment interference on behalf of employers, and that in turn suggests a libertarian alternative to the EFCA.

The financial crisis has hit every sector of the economy, and along with the rest, charitable donations have fallen. One-click charities offer an alternative for those strapped of cash. With donations paid by advertisers, users can give money, generally one time per day, at not cost to themselves.

Wealth, Illth, Money, and the Financial Crisis
