Bill Schmalfeldt

The 21st Century Iconoclast
by Bill Schmalfeldt (liberal)

About The Author

57-year old guy in Maryland with more than 30-years experience in the private sector as a journalist/broadcaster and six years as a writer/editor for the federal government.  I retired last March after Parkinson\'s disease rendered me housebound.  I am aghast at the direction the conservatives wish to take this country.  I have more respect for the Libertarians, but they have to understand that human nature will never permit a truly libertarian government to exist.  It never has, it never will.

About The Column

I can\'t change anyone\'s mind.  All I can do is present a progressive point of view -- which is woefully lacking on this site.  I like to think of it as \"righting the wrongs of the right wing by writing.\"  Or, at least, dying in the attempt. I will write about the foibles and faulty thinking of the conservative mind.  I will turn over rocks and shine the light on the slimy things underneath them.

Using the Keystone pipeline as an example, we will examine the GOP need to lie and the conservative need to believe the lies.

Government Not Only Can, but Should Create Jobs! In Government!
Published: January 14, 2012
The loss of a government job is not a good thing. The taxpayer will save nothing. In fact, the unemployed former federal worker is now on the unemployment rolls. Where is the wisdom in that?
