Do you think the federal government is too big? Is it too expensive, wasteful, centralized, or intrusive? If you feel that way, you are not alone!
Americans are rightly suspicious of the political machinations of our bloated federal government. We are distrustful of the politicians who make the decisions in Washington, our Senators and Congressmen. Recent polls indicate that a minuscule 3% of Americans trust Congress fully. But what are we to do about this sorry state of affairs?
Thankfully, there is a revolutionary new organization taking a fresh and creative approach to shrinking the federal government down to size. They have been strongly supportive of Dr. Paul's efforts to restore constitutional government. While I have reprinted some of Downsize DC's articles in past columns, I would now like to tell you why I am so enthusiastic about their ideas. Downsize DC has restored an optimism for solving the "big government" problem I thought forever lost.
Here is the first of several simple but powerful "Downsize DC ideas" that I want to share with you:
There Are FAR More Of Us Than Them!
Congress is relatively very tiny - a mere 535 people in the Senate and House combined. Contrast that with well over 300 MILLION Americans who distrust them, and you might begin to get an inkling that Congress doesn't stand a chance against an army of our vast size, intent on putting legislators back into their proper place and role!
Downsize DC is recruiting an army of Downsizers who will be able very easily, and at minimal cost in time and money to each of us, to put the "federal genie" back into it's Constitutional bottle. Can you afford that cost? Yes! It amounts to no more than a few keystrokes and mouse clicks every few days; an occasional one-minute phone call; perhaps a little socializing every month or two; and as little as three dollars a month.
Downsize has developed some impressive tools to facilitate these small efforts, not the least of which is a mechanism that makes it possible for a member to contact both Senators and Congressman at once just as if the message had been entered directly and independently on all three respective websites! I have personally used this amazing system for the last year, and I can speak my mind to my legislators in just a minute or two of my time.
In an earlier article I asked the question, "Can Any Good Thing Come Out Of Washington?" The surprise answer in that instance was "Yes," and one reason for that answer was the combined pressure of many thousands of DC Downsizers relentlessly bombarding their legislators with letters and phone calls. Amazingly, the Downsize DC army is still in it's infancy yet it is already having an impact. Don't you want to be a part of it?
And so I ask you to embrace this good news: with over 300,000,000 of us and only 535 of them, how long do you think Congress will be able to hold out? Won't you answer the call today by joining the growing Downsize DC army? Here is an excerpt from their Mission Statement:
"Our goal is to reduce the federal government to a tiny fraction of its current size, decentralize power, end deficits, federal borrowing, and monetary inflation, and eliminate most federal taxation and the IRS."
You can sign up simply on-line and begin to reap the benefits of the powerful Downsizing system. You, and almost all of your fellow Americans, will be glad you did!
This is the first of a series. In future installments, I will share some of the other brilliant ideas, observations, and strategies that the geniuses at Downsize DC are developing. Stay tuned!
