An Open Letter to New Hampshire Voters

A message of peace, freedom, and prosperity for all New Hampshire Voters.

Over the past two years, I have put much thought into the direction that our country is headed towards and have come to the conclusion that we need significant changes.  For a long time before, I had lost all interest in the political scene and really didn’t care how it affected my family and me.  As my two children get older however, I am greatly concerned about their future.  Their future is directly related to the social and economic conditions in our country and I feel that the “health†of our nation is in a state of decline.  Personally, I find it a constant struggle to maintain the quality of life that I want for my family.  Inflation is outpacing my wages and the pinch is coming quickly.

I strongly believe that all of the issues we face today are intertwined together and by improving one issue we can improve all of the other issues as well.  My greatest concern of all is the debt burden we are placing on ourselves, our children, and on future generations yet to be born.  If our nation could find ways to eliminate the debt, our country would rediscover great prosperity.  To make this happen, our elected officials first must agree on a federal spending budget that generates a surplus.  That surplus could be applied to the debt.  In all reality, this can only be accomplished if the size of our federal government is decreased and we make changes to our expensive foreign policies.

Our government currently spends about 1 trillion dollars each year maintaining military and governmental operations in 130 countries around the world.  That includes our current involvement in the Middle East.  I believe that our involvement around the world cannot be afforded and it also creates great resentment against us by the peoples of those nations that we currently occupy.

When we declared war on “Terrorâ€, I thought it was a good thing and would be over quickly.  I believed what President Bush had to say.  It simply has not happened.  Focus on the terrorists was sidetracked by our entry into Iraq, our nation building in Afghanistan, and escalating tensions with Iran and now Pakistan.  We need to fight terrorism in a much more focused way that does not involve our country in needless wars and occupations.  I strongly believe that having troops in the Middle East has offered the terrorists a “rally call†to grow their numbers.  We need to take away that incentive and fight terrorism with our technological superiority.  Occupation is not working.

To this end, we are faced with choosing a new President next year.  The New Hampshire Primary is on our doorstep.  Based upon my beliefs, I am putting my support behind Congressman Ron Paul who is running on the Republican party ticket.  I hope that you will reflect upon my analysis of our nations problems and consider voting in the upcoming Primary and put your support behind Congressman Paul as well.
