While reading his article for the American Chronicle titled; "Double Debate, in NH Obama + Edwards (Double Team) v Clinton, Romney Beset by All" (Williamson, 2007) I could not help but laugh at his remarks aimed at Presidential candidate Dr. Ron Paul. It was fueled by the same political rhetoric that has dominated the MSM since Republican Congressman Dr. Ron Paul announced his bid for the Presidency. As always ignoring the people as well as the debate polls all the while being unfair and unbalanced towards honest reporting. Is it just me who believes a news columnist is supposed to be somewhat "Factually Accurate"?
So let us look at what constitutes a "Loser" by Mr. "Doc" Williamson’s standard. Before I do I just want to make sure I quote him correctly. ""Surprisingly (??) it appeared that the big LOSER in the debates was Republican Senator Ron Paul."(sic) As we can see Mr. Williamson's shortcommings are obvious to any educated reader. Dr. Ron Paul is a Republican Congressman Mr. Wiliiams, not a Senator.
Williamson goes on to state, "He might have been disrespected by host and moderator ABC's anchorman Charlie Gibson, when he said that Senator Paul's positions had been reasonably consistent. The question of the moment was candidates' changed positions, so it seemed like a compliment, but Gibson slipped in a dig about Senator Paul's one "inconsistency" was changing from the Libertarian Party to the Republican Party after being elected the first time."
Okay so, Mr. Williams doesn’t factually explain why it "appeared" that Dr. Paul was a "Loser" but he actually admits that "Although some of this positions are, indeed insightful, and acknowledge truths that are glossed over or ignored by the rest of the candidates" (Hmm interesting). However, Mr. WIlliamson's critical thinking skills vanish and he goes on to say, "he spoke so narrowly from his Libertarian point of view that it appeared he believed all the evils of the world were rooted in a "runaway" welfare state, excessive taxes and bloated government."
First, I would like to commend Mr. Williamson’s brief bout of logic however short lived, in acknowledging that Dr. Paul’s Positions are insightful & truthful as well as "IGNORED" by the other candidates. Unfortunately, this critical thinking episode quickly faded into the ether. Which if it had not he may have asked himself "Why do the other candidates refuse to acknowledge these insightful truths?" Instead he decided to jump on the short bus with the rest of the MSM and attack Dr. Paul’s only "inconsistency" in his entire political career, he ran as a Libertarian 20 years ago. Wow, that is all the mud that can be dug up and slung toward Congressman Paul. All I have to say to that is "You have got to be kidding me?"
Even though Dr. Paul promotes an Insightful and truthful platform, his donations are from "The American People" and not "The Military and Medical industrial complex'; the FACT, that Dr. Paul receives more donations from our beloved "TROOPS" than any other candidate is irrelevant to Mr. Williams. Let us not forget the FACT, that Dr. Ron Paul has completely crushed his opponents in the ABC post debate polls once again.
As for his remarks on Dr. Paul’s views in regard to the "welfare state" well I guess he hasn’t educated himself on the problems caused by the welfare state that have most recently showed themselves to be self evident in New Orleans. I suggest a good place for Mr. Williamson to start his journey down the road of enlightenment and critical thinking would be HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE and also HERE is a book he should add to his collection.
Now, I would like to hope that the remarks about Dr. Ron Paul by Mr. Williamson were an isolated ignorance.
