I find it very hard to argue the fact that our country is not in need some of changes.  The powers that be, and wish to remain so, have taken control over certain aspects of the system, that could quite possibly enable them to remain in power indefinitely. This great country was founded on a system of checks and balances, and this has been frivolously discarded. The most disappointing aspect of this blatant disregard for openness and honesty is the lack of concern by the citizens. It is no longer a secret that there have been government cover-ups and CIA coups, and yet most people still remain oblivious. This is and will be a problem if progress is to be made.

Diebold Inc., a technology company, donated 1250.00 to the Bush campaign in 2003. There is nothing illegal about this. There is, however, something very unethical about it. Diebold Inc. which just recently changed its name to Premier Election Systems, makes the machines that count the votes for the President of the United States of America. This seems like a conflict in interest to me, it should to you as well. No? Consider this, Diebold machines were in place in Volusia County Florida in the controversial 2000 election, why did Al Gore have -16022(yes negative 16022) votes? How can you have negative votes, especially when the precinct only had 600 people that voted? Does that raise an eyebrow?

"DELAND, Fla., Nov. 11 - Something very strange happened on election night to Deborah Tannenbaum, a Democratic Party official in Volusia County. At 10 p.m., she called the county elections department and learned that Al Gore was leading George W. Bush 83,000 votes to 62,000. But when she checked the county's Web site for an update half an hour later, she found a startling development: Gore's count had dropped by 16,000 votes, while an obscure Socialist candidate had picked up 10,000--all because of a single precinct with only 600 voters."  http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0310/S00211.htm

That was in 2000, since then there have been Diebold machines placed in 30 different states, one of which is Louisiana, one of the states that contained "faulty" machines, go figure. Major universities such as Berkley and Princeton have done studies on these machines and found them to be easily and untraceably hacked in under 60 seconds. Not cool. Our history can be forever changed in a matter of seconds by corrupt, self interested, fascist elites. Also, not cool.

What can we do about this? Well for starters, if you haven’t already, you can take action. You can raise awareness, you can self educate and not rely on Main Stream Media for your information. You can flip that complacency switch to OFF. You can demand paper ballots. You can call or write your congressman and tell them to vote YES to HR 811, "The Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act of 2007", an act that will back up every electronically cast vote with a paper ballot, a small but important step.  Most importantly you can stop being scared or embarrassed of talking politics with people, this is how good choices are made, through debate. I welcome anyone with a differing opinion to challenge what I have said in this article, I will not take any offense and I will have a rational and open minded conversation with them.

I would love to be proved wrong about this, because that would mean that our country is not heading down the road of fascism and tyranny. It would mean that there are no "bad" people out there waging a war on the middle class for their own benefit. It would mean that this radical dehumanization of the population is not happening. It would mean, that we are truly free, and that is going to be a hard topic to prove. If our government is not going to be honest and forthright about the means by which they gain power, then we the people, have not the moral, nor the legal responsibilities, to obey this governments laws, nor pay its wages.

Scary stuff.......I wouldn't doubt it from what I've seen since living under the Bush (W) dynasty the last 7 years.
