Democrats, liberals, progressives and RINO's all have made a major miscalculation concerning the National Health Care issue related to forcing the Roman Catholic Church to pay for, or somehow be involved in the distribution of contraception. And Obama's side step, relieving the Church of the financial responsibility by forcing the Church's insurance companies, for Catholic Schools and Hospitals, to comply has November consequences which could have tidal wave effects!
First, lets insure we understand, this fight is not about money. It is absolutely a fight about "turf." The First Amendment is clearly the center of the fight. This is about the separation of Church and State, but as originally defined in the First Amendment. Congress shall make no law... this is about separate kingdoms, one here on earth, and one of divine sovereignty. The First Amendment did not only protect your right to speech, but protected your right to practice your faith as you see it. This fight with the Church is not just about who will represent God, the Church or the US government, but about who will be God; God or the federal government?
For decades, the globalists, one-worlders, world government crowd have seen the open border to Mexico as a bonanza for their agenda. First, they saw the open border as necessarily marginalizing American nationality, and setting an important marker towards a borderless world. Second, they saw the influx of some twenty million poor Mexicans as the next great wave of liberal Democrats. These poor immigrants (illegal though they may be) provided the best argument for national health insurance. Financing the health care of this huge population through the Emergency Room, placed great financial strains on state and local governments. It forced state and local government to shift limited resources in their balanced budgets, from a variety of local special interests and projects to paying for Medicaid and other health care services for the poor.
Third, allowing the illegals kept unskilled manual labor wages artificially down, shifting labor money to organized labor. I mean the list is endles; how this influx of Latino illegals forwarded the globalists goals. How 'bout a multi - language America? Doesn't that epitomize cultural diversity and simulataneously destroy American natinoalism? And does not dividing the people help create dependence on government and further the cause of the progressive socialists?
So what's the rub?
The rub is, unlike Euro Catholics, especially those in the American northeast, Latin Catholics actually live their faith! They do believe in the Almighty God, they do listen to their clergy, and they are a new silent moral Ma... well not yet, just a very large segment of the population. Not supposed to vote? I know. But, do they?
But, there are other aspects to this fight with the Roman Catholic Church. Modern polls have been showing that American women are becoming more and more socially conservative. Even on abortion!
And then there's President Obama's announcement to the world that the United State is NOT a Christian country. In a country where the census reports approximately 80%of Americans call themselves Christian, this most recent attack on the Church just pours salt in to wounds already deeply felt. And, for the Democrats this is one big Election Night problem.
Catholics comprise 27% of the electorate. That's one in four possible voters! And normally they support Democrats! So, this attack on the church, which has angered majorities of the Catholic laity, is messing with serious political consequences.
Unlike other interest groups, the US Roman Catholic Church is NOT dominated by some amorphous electorate. The Catholic Church belongs to a larger international body led by the Pope. And, he has proven to be of tough stuff when it comes to upholding the originality morality as understood in the Gospels. So compromise on the part of the Church on these issues will NOT be forthcoming. In many respects the Catholic Church has been a stalwart in the Culture War in America. While her individual Priests have suffered from the Original Sin all humanity carries, the Church has remained the Rock Christ intended it to be.
As they used to say when I was a child, "The President has stepped in it"
