South Carolina rises in importance each hour the primary process continues. Today, Rick Perry, Governor of Texas stepped down, right in time to influence the vote in South Carolina. And Perry's statement could be evidence that there has been a rebirth of Texas within Rick. In Perry's statement he spoke of his own faith, of the imperfection of all men, of the forgiveness of our Christian God if we ask for it.
For Christians in South Carolina it might be time to remember that even King David went astray, and did much worse than Newt.
Governor Perry, I have been extremely critical of you in my writings. I pray I was wrong in all I wrote. I pray you are the Christian you demonstrated today! I pray that you find a way to stand up for the border of Texas, and stop the globalism that is destroying America. I pray today was your first day on a march that could end up at the White House. Not this time, but in God's time.
South Carolina, Sarah has told you we need to support Newt. Governor Perry has set aside his own ambitions, and in doing so, endorsed Newt. For all his faults Newt is unquestionably the best prepared to assume the office of president. Newt knows the issues, he knows the complexity and intertwined aspects of domestic and international policy. He is grounded in American history. He says he has gone to God, and I believe him. I believe him because as a sinner I know just how difficult it is to stay the course. I know that only a Christian God can forgive, strengthen, and guide someone.
South Carolina you have an entire nation holding its breath. If you boldly step forward and give Newt your vote, you let the rest of us, the regular people participate in the process. If you give Newt your vote, you give us a chance. But, if you close the door, if you accept Romney, you put one large nail in America's coffin. One vote is about America, one is about globalism. One vote is about the blue bloods in New England, Wall Street and London, one vote is about me and every other regular America who is tired of the media choosing our President.
When America needed you in the Revolution, South Carolina was there. When one part of the nation wanted to seize power over the rest, when abolitionists used terrorists to kill people, you were there. America is at another cross roads. This time the stakes could not be higher. Which do you prefer Obama Care or Romney Care? That's the choice you leave us, unless you chose Newt.
Romney and his supporters have proven that nothing is off the table. Their attacks against Newt prove no Christian mercy, but rather the cruelty of big money, destroying lives to cut up companies for profit.
Mitt himself has said this election is about the "soul" of America, I could not agree more. President Obama has proclaimed to the world that the United States is NOT a Christian nation! The best counter to that statement would be the overwhelming election of a Christian. A flawed Christian yes, the Christians Christ came for. Make your state the guarantor of democracy. Make your state the one that makes this a real primary season, and not the anointing of blue blood aristocracy.
Take some time. Turn off the radio. Turn off Hannity and Beck who have sold themselves out. Do what your parents taught you to do when a big decision had to be made. Go to Him who knows all, and ask Him. Invite God back to the governing table. Whatever His answer is, that’s what you should do. His will be done.
It's up to you, each citizen of the Palmetto State!
