It's not yet December 2011 and there are those that are trying to wrap up the Republican nomination before the first primary or caucus vote has been cast. Why is that? Why are they afraid of the process of discovery that we voters are entitled to?
Are we not entitled to see how these individuals respond under pressure? Under duress?
Is President of theUnited States, they will be under a lot more pressure than merely trying to secure the nomination of the Republican Party.
Second, why is the Republican Party not telling the liberal media to but out of this process? I cannot recall the conservative media telling the Democratic Party which candidates would be acceptable? Frankly, until the general election, it is none of their business.
Should this process really be wrapped up before January 2012? For God's sake, let's hope not.
I am sure I will have more on the candidates as we move forward. But I have some serious questions today about these candidates that I have not seen answered.
What makes Mitt Romney a Republican? Elected governor in the same state and during the same elections that returned Ted Kennedy and Barney Frank to office, were the voters suffering from dementia, or were they merely voting for the more conservative of two liberal candidates? One that just happened to be registered as a Republican?
And why is the media so hell-bent on Mitt Romney the Republican choice? Has Romney ever polled higher than 33% in a national poll? He could not beat John McCain who could not beat Barack Obama. And here we are, four years later, and I still have no reason to believe (Ann Coulter's support is not enough) Romney could beat McCain today. Could he even be elected Senator or Governor of Massachusetts today?
What makes Rick Perry a Republican? I have not heard a plausible reason as to why he supported Al Gore. Or why he changed parties. Tell us what changed. What caused you to see the light.
Because I will be honest with you. At the debates, Perry seemed like a liberal at a conservative gathering.
Mandatory vaccines because it was for a good reason?
In state tuition for illegal aliens because he has a heart?
Tell me what issues we face that those very same reasons could not be used to force us to, for argument's sake, be forced to buy health insurance?
Either the leadership of the Republican Party is asleep at the wheel, they do not care, or they are working with the Democrats to keep the masses under control. I am not sure which of the above is true.
If you fall for this push to wrap things up before the vote is cast, I implore you to stay home and not vote. There is simply too much at risk to allow opinions that change on the fly, and at a moment's notice to determine the future of this nation.
Know your candidate. Know not just how they feel on a topic, but the principle behind it. Because without principles, you know that they are just deciding based on how many votes it will get them.
That is NOT leadership. That is cowardice. We are at a junction in this nation that we do not need a coward as President.
These are my thoughts.
Let me know what you think.
