Republicans offer little to correct America's mess....

Both parties, the Supreme Court and the Ivy League have created the conditions for US decline, and no one is offering what is needed to change direction!

With Sarah Palin gone from the race, what's left of the Republican field is a disappointing group of wanna be's with no agenda to rectify the troubles which are causing American decline..

Before we talk about a candidate, let’s talk about the structural causes of the present U.S. decline.  Those causes are;

a. Removal of a Christian God from the table of governance.

b.  loss of American nationality and the imposition of globalism.

c An inability to accept the need for a balanced budget.

d. The end of federalism, and the commencement of one single, all powerful government dictating what programs each state must finance and run.

e. An inability to secure our own national borders while we conduct wars half a world away which do NOT threaten our existence.

f. A false reliance on higher education, including a huge, burdensome higher education infra-structure.

g, A failure to understand that capitalism is a nationalist, not a global economic system.  America must organize its economy for self-sustainment.  This should include the development of all natural energy reserves, the creation of American industry to meet the demands of the American marketplace, and the use of trade for and when it benefits our nation, our people.  Globalism has ripped American industry from America and destroyed commercial blue collar jobs.

h. The socialism of our economy, through the mandate of services, “rights,” etc have so burdened the American economy so as to minimalize start up business.

i. Over commitment of government benefits to government workers, retirees, and beneficiaries has bankrupted the economic system, driving resources to the oldest, limiting resources to employ the youngest.  Our nation is no longer creating more wealth (in terms of product) than we are consuming.

All of the above problems-environments-situations reflect the force and gravity of the special interests which have taken over the governing arms of the central and state capitals.  Many of these special interests are NOT American in character or soul, but instead represent foreign interests and monies.  The original importance of the “individual” American, and the sovereignty of the states have been completely erased to allow for the centralization of all aspects of life under a national government. Treaties have been used to usurp the Constitution.

The most important corruption of the American system has occurred through the removal of a Christian God at the table of governance.  From the landing of Columbus to roughly the 1960’s a Christian God had been an active player in the governance of the United States.  Right and wrong was not relative, but found in the pages of the Holy Bible. Laws came from this source, or at least did not directly challenge the Bible. The connection between God and the governance of this land has ended in my life time, and much of what we reap now, we reap separate from God.

All of the other challenges stem from the special interests, interests which are not shared by the majority of Americans.  Both political parties have been purchased by the special interests and thus they do not reflect America.  The Tea Party candidates seem to have retained their independence and commitment to America, but at this time are insufficient to set the agenda.

So why is there no candidate for President who sees the problems as they are listed above and has an agenda to return our nation to its old values and methods of operation?

Simply put, there is no money or political power behind an American solution.  For sure many, possibly most Americans see the same problems listed above.  And it could be possible to rally sufficient voters behind and American solution.  But Americans have proven to be weak political supporters.  Activism lasts only so long as the crisis, but once things turn, citizenship goes back in to the closet and the special interests reclaim their turf.

America is in decline, as have all other democracies which ever blessed this planet.  Democracy in the past has proven that it cannot last.  In the end humanity is not up to citizenship.  Family, job, vacations, responsibilities, etc all tend to move individuals away from citizenship.  And without God at the center, there is little real impetus for committing oneself to governance of the local community.

There is no real candidate, no real choice to reset America’s course, because in the end, the American people just do not have the character and dedication to govern themselves.

"...what's left of the Republican field is a disappointing group of wanna be's with no agenda to rectify the troubles which are causing American decline..."

So, now you've lowered yourself to deliberately lying.

Ron Paul has made very specific proposals about cutting the budget ($1 trillion), auditing the Fed, introducing free competition in currency, refusing the bailout banks any further, bringing the troops home, and ending American interventionism. In short, he has laid out a very effective strategy for turning America around. In fact, he has proposed far more specifically than any other candidate, Republican or Democrat, including non-candidates like Sarah Palin, what needs to be done in order to turn America around. Yet you insist that he has not done so, despite the clear evidence and despite the fact that you know all these things to be true.

Since when did deliberate lying become something that a "good Christian" does?

Walt,

Not to defend Mr. Vogl, especially since it was I who called him "crazy," but maybe calling him out for outright "lying" is a bit too harsh. I would say that, at the very least, we should give him the benefit of the doubt that it is not his "real" intent to lie. After reading his posts for many a moon now, as I'm sure you have, I feel certain that Mr. Vogl doesn't really lie about those candidates with whom he disagrees or doesn't like; rather, he just sort of forgets the specific details about their candidacy and/or forgets about them all together. He doesn't feel that Ron Paul has a snowball's chance in Hades to win; therefore, he (Mr. Paul) has no real plan, nor does anything that he says really matter. Basically, Mr. Paul doesn't exist except to say that he is a wacko or provides no "real solutions." As if Ms. Palin has any...something for which I am still waiting Mr. Vogl to expound upon.

Oh, and he will legalize crack cocaine, force Americans to attend gay weddings, and who knows what else. Maybe make cats and dogs live together!! WHAT NEXT??

Mr. Romney is, well let's face it, MORMON; Ms. Bachmann is a pretty little thing with LOTS to say but who has disappeared too far into the background; Mr. Santorum...WHO? And Mr. Perry? A Southern-hating coward who won't campaign for a specialty license plate. Mr. Cain may have a shot (in Mr. Vogl's world anyway). However, the only real savior of the world is Sarah Palin and unfortunately for all us poor mortals, she is not running.

So be careful whom you call a liar Walt. Maybe instead of lying, you could call it deliberately casting dispersions. Then again, maybe it is a new kind of lying that some good, far-right Christian conservatives who have a particular agenda have adopted.

The American people have always been willing to follow a strong leader, Washington, Lincoln, Teddy, FDR, Reagan. Today in lieu of leadership qualities Americans will settle for anyone that will promote the success of socialism just as long as it goes by another name. Have Americans forsaken responsibility and self reliance for macro greed?

Ron Paul, while having great ideas, I would vote for him in a second, has no charisma, the most important of all electability and leadership traits. He comes off a little screwy at times, but I like that. Why do you think the press ignores him? He is no threat. Great ideas, no threat.

Sarah has character, intelligence, ethics and a huge target on her back. Has she been marginalized? Or maybe she just figured out that the press had her silhouetted, so she got down off the ridge.

Romney, Pffffff, why change to a closet progressive when you have the real deal already in the W.H. His only hope is that the American people may prefer a softer socialism.

Perry, I don't really think he thought long and hard enough about it. Seems to me the press reached into Texas for a warm body inorder to kill some time. The Jersey governor was smart enough not to play that game.

Herman has become a threat and he may be history, why? Because Americans are simply looking for an excuse to vote once again for a socialist/marxist just as long a they go by some other name. They want, Americans that is, for socialism to work but they also want to maintain the appearance that it is happening by default.

America has fallen into a societal blackhole where character has been crushed by opportunism driven expediency, enabled by macro greed.

So what happens if the republicans go into thier convention with no clear leader? What happens if it goes to a second ballet? Or a third? Hmmmmm! Would America respond to a true conservative charismatic leader? Where is a George Washington when you need him?

Interested Catholic, I don't know what else to call it when he says all the other candidates have, "...no agenda to rectify the troubles which are causing American decline..." It's not like Ron Paul's plan has been hidden from his view. It's been written about by others on this site on numerous occasions. It has received quite a bit of press coverage. I have pointed out to him in comments of his articles in the past what Ron Paul has proposed. So he cannot claim ignorance. He knows. He just chooses to ignore what he knows. Calling him a liar may be harsh, but in light of all this, it's also accurate.

There are far too many conservatives who claim to believe in liberty, free markets, etc. who, when faced with what it actually takes to get there, pretend that the solutions haven't been proposed, don't exist, or are impossible. Frankly, I'm sick of their attitude and their lies. So are more and more of the American people.

When I look at all the charismatic presidents we have had in the last 50+ years, all the good looking presidents who dressed well and spoke so eloquently, and then I look at what they did once they got into office, I conclude that charisma is a lot less important than you think it is. In fact, I'm pretty sure that more and more people are becoming jaded by it.

I agree with Walt's assertion that the charisma aspect of a candidate is a lot less important when it comes to what they actually achieve while in office. The problem is, though, charisma is what gets a lot of these guys elected, unfortunately. People tend to vote for those whom they feel have personality (cult of personality, perhaps?), who look good, and who can talk a good game. A great politician, in other words. Too bad for Paul that he doesn't fit that bill. Seems as if the ones who have the best ideas and who seem to be reasonable and smart, don't fit that "slick politician" bill. People are sheep in need of a shepherd but try convincing them of that and see what happens. Everyone thinks he is not really a sheep; and yet, as soon as one of these guys gets up and starts the rhetoric, they bow down as if not worthy.
