An American underground, is it coming?

The freedoms granted by the Bill of Rights are under seige by the main stream media and academia, will it create a secret America?

Another set of Southern boys are expelled from school for waving the Confederate battle flag at a parade, would they have been expelled for waving the flag of Israel?

I ask that question because those who condemn the Confederate battle flag say it offends some. Does the Israeli flag offend some Moslem Americans?

To be honest I dont know what America is about any more, or even more important who actually is making decisions in this nation? And that is very frightening for me.

Sean Hannity, a conservative talk show host, who from time to time talks about his Catholic roots, sanctity of life and his opposition to abortion, has been starting his show with songs or statements which feature foul language.  It's almost like using cuss words is some kind of right of passage onto the radio airwaves.  Just a couple of years ago that language would have been barred, he would have been fined.  But not today.  Why?  Who made that decision?  How would Americans today get that reversed?

And when I went to college the Rebel flag was a symbol of pride in the South,  Dixie was close to the national anthem and Amazing Grace as the songs which brought strong emotional feelngs to the patriotic people of the South.  Not today.  Why?  Who decided that?

Some say America has improved greatly since the 1950's. In some respects it has. The Civil Rights movement led by Dr. Martin Luther King was one of the great  social movements in modern American history.  Slavery is a blight on the America's past, north and South.  The Reconstruction era after the war did nothing to rectify the situation with respect to racial equality. States like Ohio, who had provided hundreds of thousands of men to invade and conquer the South, passed laws barring the settlement of blacks in Ohio after the Civil War. The penalty for an attempt? Hanging!

The Civil War did one great thing, freeing the slaves, and many bad things, including the destruction of the original Constitution, the destruction of the principle of "consent of the governed" and the beginnings of a new, massive, all powerful centralized government which today is literally out of contrlol. The states, which had been the creators of the union, are now nothing more than administrative zones, with little real power. And worse, the diversity of America, through its regions is all but gone, as federalized social engineers homogenize America.

President Obama's redistribution of wealth agenda is moving America even further from its origins, substituting materialism for political liberty.   In the America of our founding it was the preservation of individual liberty, the right of the majority to govern itself, primarily through the states, and an ability to practice one's religion, almost universally Christian, which was the basis of our nation. Most domestic issues were addressed in the state you lived in.  Everything from education and marriage, to laws concerning work and land rights were managed by each of the respective states.  People and goods could move from state to state freely, mostly to allow for the development of the potential of the individual citizen.  No one was guaranteed anything, it was about risk, personal effort, and earning it.  Work was the road to success, not degrees from colleges, or entitlement.

That America began to erode with the war against the South and has now progressed to the point that there is one social culture, one way for all, derived by some power in the dark we cannot even see or know.  The results are an oppression of things different, not on the approved list. Diversity does not include being an individual.  If you are Southern, white or black,  you have felt this oppression for a long time, since 1865.  The oppressors say: hey we won the war, suck it up. The expulsion of the boys in Alabama for their Southern pride through free speech is an example of the loss of our liberty.

Well, I for one, won't accept that.  The heritage and history of my family includes being Southern, as much as it includes my religion, my national roots in Germany, Ireland (Erin) and Scotland.  My right to own a gun is as important to me, as my right to own a Bible, or practice my faith.

In the old America those rights were so important they were separately embraced through the first ten Amendments to the Constitution. And those Amendments were voted on at the same time as the adoption of the Constitution. Without the Bill of Rights the Constitutionmay not have been adopted.

These rights will NOT be surrendered.  My heritage will NOT be surrendered.  It was my heritage which founded this nation, and it is this heritage I will defend to death, even against the people of the United States...if they are fool enough to forfeit their own.

What is occurring in this nation is not just a split, but the creation of an environment which may force regular every day, Christian Americans into the shadows.  Some of us may stand in the light with our flags, and music, and culture, others may wish to avoid the condemnation and practice their own cultures in the dark.  Like a third world nation, the people may hide from their government for fear of what it will do.

Over time, that fear will turn to anger, and a new cycle of political revolution will commence. The Founding Fathers created a nation where that need not happen. They created a nation of separate states where dozens of different cultures could live side by side peacefully. Progressives and intellectuals could not accept that as the best for all.  And so now, today, the original diversity is obliterated by a new diversity, one controlled and approved by the federal government.

The incident in Alabama this week, concerning the Confederate battle flag begs me to ask; has Hitler come to America?  Does freedom of speech now mean that only approved symbols may be publicly displayed.  Does freedom of religion mean that Sean Hannity can use vulgar and foul language on his show, but talk about God, Christ, and the Bible are reserved only to certain stations at certain times.

On Civil Rights for blacks, America has improved since the 1950's, but in every other way America is in decline.  It doesn't have to be this way. We can embrace the gains in civil rights for blacks, while rejecting "progress" in other areas which is not progress at all.  If we don't, the American underground which now houses illegal immigrants and the users and sellers of illegal drugs is going to get a lot more crowded, as every day Americans move away from what their government imposes.

Mark,

I considered commenting under another username because I doubted that you would read much of what I have to say; but then, I realized that you will probably dismiss "what" I have to say anyway, regardless of name, so here it is.

I have counterpointed many times in comments to your articles that it is, in fact WE THE PEOPLE who are the deciders of all these ills that you so often bring up. It is very simply the way that we spend our money and the institutions that we support (by how we spend our money) that is the deciding factor as to what is acceptable and what is not acceptable.

You very often talk about Christians being shoved to the side when it comes to our rights, and rightfully so. Our current popular culture is very anti-Christian; however, how many of your Christian brethren, whom you know personally, continually support the very institutions (and industries) that you despise? How many of them purchase products made by companies that are endorsed by professional sports figures, who's teams include and lionize accused rapists and steroid drug users? How about animal abusers? Hip-hop/rapper thugs?

How about the number of Christian people who buy their kids smartphones and computers with full and unfiltered internet access; who buy them CDs and DVDs full of music and movies that contain foul language and perverted adult content, with or without their knowledge? Who continue to pour money into organization after organization that supports everything from gay marriage, pornographic media, to abortion.

The world of professional sports alone is one that I could spend a lifetime giving example after example of corruption, filth, and degradation but that is to this day treated with idolatry the likes of which no other institution compares. In America, MONEY is King Mark, you know that. In your heart of hearts you know it. It is not about majority rules but MONEY rules and it is where the money is that determines what goes on, what lives, what dies, and what is acceptable.

As I have said many times in response to your lamentations about America going to hell-in-a-handbasket, when we stop the flow of the money, we will stop the flow of the tide of these corrupt things. And not before.

Just my opinion of course, but it would be nice to see a dissenting opinion that can honestly show otherwise.

Interesting that at no point did you address the question of liberty, freedom of speech or the power brokers of drakness. Your response about the people is lame, and you know, more and more people realize it. There is no Christian provider of television, or radio. I am not talking about a network, I am talking about a provider you could purchase from. One that could block foul langauge and the all the rest. And there is a market. But the earlier point was about the Confederate battle flag and the potential for a politlcal underground, and you ignored those. Think out of the box, your retorts have no imagination or ability to react to the actual issue being discused. Have a nice weekend.

Mark,

As usual, your reply to this comment is really out there and doesn't even address the points I made. Plus, I have NO idea what you are talking about in terms of "liberty," "freedom of speech," and "power brokers of darkness." I'm not really sure what you are talking about but I will say that I admit that there are true "power brokers of darkness" out there in the world. Unfortunately, I also firmly believe that they are only as good as good people let them be. And it goes further than just simply giving them money, but I think we could go a very long way to improving everything in this country if we would only curb our spending and purchasing of these broker's products. It would send a clear message to the power brokers if we didn't give them all the money.

If you want a provider that you could purchase from, start one. Or, you and your Christian friends could all decide as a unit (and maybe even start a campaign) to discontinue your accounts with your current service provider and send a very clear message that you will not purchase from ANY SP that carries programming to which you object. You say there is a market. Ok, if that is true, how come there aren't enough people to put their money where their mouths are and stop sending money to all these carriers that DO carry all the filthy programs? You and I both know the answer to this rhetorical question. It's because they (the good people) don't want to give up those other shows/programs that they DO like. It's called SACRIFICE Mark, and I don't think there are enough people in this country who are willing to go the entire way and give it all up to make the point that enough is enough.

I have another one, for you personally. How about not purchasing any products that are advertised on Sean Hannity's program, since he is so foul-mouthed. This is partly how his show continues to be aired, Mark. You know, endorsements, advertising? And why on earth would you continue to listen to all these filthy-mouthed talk show hosts anyway if it bothers you so much?? This simply doesn't make any logical sense when you know good and well that the only way to keep them on the air is to listen to them, purchase advertisers products, and buy their merchandise! If enough people stopped doing this, don't you think that ol' Sean and Rush would ask themselves if it's worth it to continue to use bad language?

I have no doubt that your "political underground" point is valid. God knows that there are enough people in this country who are sick to death of the "evil" in our current culture. You know what though? These same people wouldn't give up any of the things I mentioned, which would in turn have a great effect on the "power brokers of darkness" and bring them out into the light, if their lives depended on it. And it is THAT idea that is truly out of the box. Give it up for the greater cause and see how long the filth lasts. If there are so many people who want this country to change, tell me a better way to do it Mark; besides just your tired old "IN" the box answer of secession. Even that idea might be more interesting if you would give us some ideas about HOW that would help with all these problems.
