The problem with today's America, why work if the government gets half of it? by Mark Vogl

A very high percentage of working age men, aren't. Why?
Simple, don't have to, and don't get enough for the effort.
In defending illegal immigration, supporters say Americans won’t do certain jobs. Wrong, Americans won’t do certain jobs unless you pay them the worth of the job. Americans will do any job, if the pay is right. It’s called market capitalism. But here in the US, the ruling elite cheat market capitalism by allowing in illegal immigrants, twenty million or more.
And part of the pay equation is how much you get to keep.
The ruling elite, the academicians, those who know better think that it is ok to take more than 50 cents of every dollar earned. They take it in state sales taxes, in behavior modification taxes for cigarettes and gasoline. They take it in forced social security payments. They take it in property taxes, or the rent you pay, which pays for the property taxes of the owner. The government always has its hand out, at toll booths on highways, at the county where you pay for services that are supposed to be paid for by taxes. You aren't just paying taxes for your local community, or your state, or even America! Nope, now we pay taxes to meet the needs of the rest of the world. We pay taxes to support the countries who use child labor to steal American jobs! We pay taxes to support nations who produce oil we have to purchase!
The government, from local all the way up to Pennsylvania Avenue is controlled by people who think they know better than you or me. They know the worth of human life, 50 million abortions since Roe v. Wade demonstrates that.
Our nation is not the America of George Washington. It ain't even the America of Abraham Lincoln or Woodrow Wilson.
But you have heard all this before. So what's new in this article.
Well how 'bout this. I don't work for several reasons. First, because we have enough. Second, because I do NOT want to support today's America with my effort. I don't work because at least 50 percent of all I would do would support things I don’t support. So ...aint working. Now this isn' the usual conservative arguement, the argument about keeping more of what I make.
This is a new conservative argument, ..yep new, I ain’t working because I will not spend my time, my energy, my intellect benefitting a nation that rejects its’ Christian heritage and faith. I don't work because I don't think we should be in Iraq and Afghanistan and I aint gonna pay for it. I don't work because the system of governance is broke and I will not participate in it. Consent of the governed, the principle of legitemacy for America, has been removed. With the occupatino of the South at the end of the war, the US rejected its core value, that people should be able to choose the system of govnerment and who governs.
Now, is this reason so many working age men don't work? I don't know. Speaking for myself here.
You see, I don't need much. I don't need to go on vacations to foreign lands. I don't need a lot clothes, or fancy food. I don't need new cars every couple of years. There's just a lot I don't need. Yes, I don't consume. Could mean I am a bit of lag on the economy? But, my life is more about God, about enjoying the day. About thinking, and about conversing with God and others.
Oh, I am sure I am gonna pay for this article. People aren't gonna like that I choose not work. And more, that I choose not work because I will NOT support socialism, or collectivism, or redistribution of wealth. I will not support globalism, I will not work just to help out society. Nope. When my ancestors came to America, they didn't come to help society. They came looking for freedom, liberty, and a way to make a living and survive. They came looking to find God and live their faith.
Women may have the mother’s instinct, men don't. I do not feel guilty for not working. Not a shred. I have worked...in my own way. I have written five books. I have volunteered to teach children, at no pay, in schools and churches. I have done other things, but never with money as the central concern.
Obama Care is aimed at me. If the government can force me to have to spend money, they can force me to work. Wrong again. The more oppressive the government becomes, the more unresponsive I will become.
You know when I sold life insurance my boss wanted to motivate me to sell more. How did he try to do that? He tried to make me want things. He tried to make me want to travel, or to want a new car, or to be able to take my girl to the nicest restaurant. He tried. But it didn't work. I could sell, I knew the product line, knew the presentation format, knew how to make calls to get appointments. But what I would not do is sell insurance to those who didn't need it. I would not place the sale above everything else.
No I am not perfect, and I know it. But I do know what I want. I want a nation of free men. I want a nation built on the Bible, the Constitution, and domestic capitalism. I want a self-sustaining America with an economy that values life, that doesn't artificially cheapen manual labor, craftsmanship, and the making of things. I want churches to be important again, the center of social work within the community. I don’t want pornography and foul language on the airwaves. I don’t want marriage defiled by homosexuals. Now I understand I may not be right in every instance, but if we reverted to principle of the consent of the governed, and majority rule, I could accept the faux pas of an American majority ruling the nation. But that's not where decisions come from any more. The will of the people is NOT what runs this nation. Special interests have taken the helm.
So, for me the strategy is simple. If I don't earn it, you can't take it.

Mark,
Not that it is any of my or anyone else's business, but can I assume that you are independently wealthy? The only other scenarios I can come up with for you being in a position to choose NOT to work but also NOT live off the government (via welfare) are that you, A) Are independently wealthy; if so, lucky you. The rest of us would probably enjoy that position a lot too. B) Live by doing odd jobs on a cash-only basis; whereby you would be "working." C) Have invested VERY well, well enough to not have to work anymore. Again, great! You are independently wealthy and have earned and invested enough money to NOT have to work anymore. You have paid your fair share of flesh to the government already. D) Your spouse works, which sort of negates your stand to NOT work, unless she has done one of A, B, or C; or E) You have a very generous benefactor who supports you for not working. Also known as a sugar daddy (or momma in your case).
Although I sort of commend your choice to not work, in that at least you have made some sort of choice to battle the lunacy of our current governmental framework, I have to follow that up with, without knowing your personal circumstances I would "guess" that you are one of a very small (perhaps even rare) number of American citizens who are blessed (even plum lucky) with the very comfortable position of not having to participate in the daily grind of rolling out of bed, wolfing down breakfast, fighting traffic and filing in line in front of and behind angry lunatics on the road (like lemmings), crawling into a little rat cage, er I mean cubicle; or climbing telephone poles, working construction in extreme heat/cold, washing windows, bussing tables, digging ditches, delivering babies, etc., etc.; getting yelled at by supervisors or managers, sitting in ridiculous meetings, or getting yelled at by customers; wolfing down lunch before it starts all over again; only to head back at the end of the day into the lemming lines in your car, truck, or bus exhausted from the long day and looking forward to a little dinner, sleep, and fleeting time with your family, and the next day's grind. Again, without knowing you or your personal circumstances, may I assume that you do have a home/residence that you either rent or pay mortgage on, or have paid off in the form of mortgage? Certainly you pay property taxes, if you own your home; if you rent, the landlord pays taxes on that property. If you purchase anything, which I would also assume unless you make everything that you own, including food, you pay taxes out of that. You have mentioned that you are a veteran (which, btw I respect greatly); do you get any kind of vet benefits? Do you drive a vehicle or buy gasoline/diesel?
I guess my point is that you are working to take a stand against the government, in the form of not working so they cannot take any of your money; but of course you know that if you contribute to society, in its current form you are in fact contributing to this system. The government is still taking from you. Unless you are on the government dole, I would say that you have a pretty good gig going there. Most people in this country are not in a position to make the choice you have made. I have to ask, would you recommend that people not work, in the way you are not working, in order to get across some kind of point to the government? I have heard of not paying taxes as a kind of revolution, but this is really a new concept to me. Not working, how original is that!
I am trying not to be too sarcastic here. I am sure that you meant for a lot of your article to be tongue-in-cheek...right? Do you seriously not work simply because you don't want to pay taxes to the government?? One part of me is trying to understand this apparent apathy regarding contributing to our society by working for a living; and the other part of me is, well frankly envious. I guess this explains a little better how you can write so many articles so regularly. You must have a lot of time on your hands!
Sorry if this comment comes across as sour grapes. Perhaps there are more people in the country who hate it, but who continue to sort of just sponge off its resources every day while the rest of us slave away. Does that sound too harsh? Yeah I know. Sour grapes? Probably! Since I am one of the poor schleps in the country who DO work for a living every day and hand over my pound of flesh to the tyrannical government every year. No denial there. I am apparently just stupid enough to keep working my tail off for nothing! How do I sign up for that not-working thing again?

I have to respond. Did you read the article? I said everything I don't need. No, I don't live like others. In one of my other articles I said I would give up any claim to my social security benefits, if the government would agree not to take any social security from what I earn in the future. I am in my mid 50's. The difference is I am "low maintenance." Now I am not saying I am poor...like you I made life choices. Those choices worked. Most could retire much earlier than they do, if ...and here's the big if, if they could live with less. Never buy a new car, and let the old car run for ten years. Its choices. I also wrote an article about what could you give up from the government? Our nation is working towards 17 trillion in debt because of what each of us receives from the government. (Oh in case you are wondering, never took welfare, unemployment, of any kind of social aide>) Read the Bible, God takes care of the birds, clothes the flowers...trust in HIm to provide what you need, NOT WHAT YOU WANT.
