The voice of Israel, Glen Beck, attacked Ron Paul for his less than enthusiastic stance on behalf of Isreal. The knives have been drawn. by Mark Vogl

If you wanted to hear where the money for conservative talk radio comes from, you needed to listen to Glen Beck this morning. Following Beck, Rush said that only Ron Paul proved to be a "problem" last night and then ordered "Snerdly" his call screener not to take any pro - Paul callers. He didn't want to talk to them.
In response to the Republican debate in Iowa, and specifically to comments made by Ron Paul (which I have not read or heard), Beck went on a raving rampage blasting Paul for his apparent call for American withdrawal from the Mid-East.
It's hard to identify a single liberal special interest which has the power of Israeli - American relations on the conservative side. It is this relationship which not only drives so much of US foreign and defense policy, but it is the reasoning behind "globalism" and US dependence on Middle East oil.
During Beck's show today, he proclaimed that the Middle East is the single most important issue in America's future. Beck is saying that the Mid-East is more important than our economy, more important than jobs, more important than the moral decline of our nation. Our nation is currently 14.5 trillion dollars in debt, and just authorized another 2.5 trillion, but according to Beck, Israel is more important than all of these. Our nation may exhaust itself because of over extended defending of what appears to be the 51st state. We have zero control of Israeli actions. We did not stop them from secretly acquiring nuclear weapons and we don’t condemn them for that. We sign treaties with them where they promise not build settlements on occupied territories than do nothing when they ignore th the treaties.
Common sense has been replaced by unquestioned allegiance when it comes to Israel. Our ability to even pretend to be an objective outside nation is not possible. Why do they hate us in the Moslem world? Because we preach one set of values, but ignore those values when it comes to the Middle East and Israel.
Israel risks its very survivalif its foundation of national security is the United States. All they have to do is look at the fiscal condition of our nation, at our complete instability as people because of the social diversity policies developed, encouraged and in place because of work of many liberal American Jews. American nationalism has been so shredded, our Christian values so disregarded that it seems foolish to think that this nation will long have the ability to project military power to the Mid-East. Internally, within, the American Department of Defense, the change to allowing homosexuals in the US military, along with the attack on the military retirement system will have great repercussions on recruiting at all levels, officer through elected. Not only will there be less, but whom and with what values join the military will certainly change.
I know I am only one person, and the following comments are mine, and not supported by statistical data. But in my immediate family, 40% of our adult age children are either unemployed or severely underemployed. One of those children is a Purple Heart veteran of Iraq, but his veterans' status does nothing for him, no real job opportunities for this war hero. So let me ask you, if you are responsible for coordinating US - Israeli relations, if you were I, would you be more concerned with your children, or with the welfare of Israel. And yes it is connected.
Conservative, nonnegotiable commitment to Israel and the present wars is the centerpiece of all other American policy decisions. All. It is why we follow globalism when loss of the American market place, and loss of American jobs and industry is the result. It is why there is Gay marriage, and Gay rights, to keep the left quiet. It's why there is a Federal Department of Education because that way all states are fed the same propaganda and brain washing. It is why national health care is so important, because our corporations compete with corporations across the globe that don't carry the full burden of health care for their employees. Like a necklace around our neck, all is connected at one point,
Americans are being taught to expect less, the future generations are taught to be satisfied with less.
What I don’t know, or understand is why that is good for Israel. Yes, if America were the America of old we would be more independent, less committed to a better world, less committed to changing the Mid-East. And yes, it would be more difficult for Israel to know we would be there. More work would have to be done to sustain that relationship. Christianity would rise in importance to explain the importance of Israel. But, ...under these conditions we are moving towards an Austrian Empire status where our power will be only image, not substance.
As a Christian I read my Bible. I know the importance of Israel and the Jewish people. I absolutely abhor the Holocaust, and as a Southerner I know the real pain that can be caused by the use of military force against your own people. The South suffered Yankee rape and destruction and faces a prejudice today greater than the Gays or the Jews.
I believe the United States must be a friend of Israel. And I know how difficult it would be to maintain that friendship if there were not a global terrorist threat. But Americans are tiring of this overstretch, and the longer we do it, and the poorer we are because of it, the weaker we get, and the level of commitment will eventually not reflect what we can actually do. So if the Israeli National Security strategy rests on buying time for some new alliance or some new foundation, well you all are doing the right thing for yourselves. But if your long term anchor for national security is a strong US, than you are destroying your own future by what is occuring here. If you destroy Americanism, you destroy America.
If you read my other articles you will see I am not a Ron Paul fan. He does not have the appearance of a President, and his libertarian social policies are anathema to the America I pray to my God for. But he does voice one reality I agree with, and that is that America is no longer the leader of the Free World. We need to withdraw within our borders, husband our strength for only the most important national security responsibilities, which would include our alliance and commitment to Israel. But like the old Confederacy, we need time to rebuild ourselves. We need time to develop our natural resource base and build a self-sustaining, self-sufficient nation. We need time to cleanse our culture of pornography and faulty values. And, we need time to re-establish our borders and get our finances in order.

It's good to see something else we can agree upon. We cannot afford to be the policeman of the world. Such activity has cost us far too much in money, respect, and human life.
