Sarah Palin, we need our voice

Politics in America rarely provides a leader who the people want, we usually have to choose between the best of two mediocres.

Time is passing, and with each day my hopes that Sarah will enter the 2012 Presidential race are slightly diminished.  I can only hope she has some brilliant strategy, like Stonewall Jackson of old, who defeated three armies in the Shenandoah in a matter of days, defying all odds and tying up the opponent, Abraham Lincoln, with daring and stamina.

The Republican field has a lot of good possibilities.  Newt Gingrich may be the smartest, most knowledgeable and experienced person to run for President in my lifetime (more than half a century)>  But Newt is of the elite now, not of the people.  He has been transformed since his early days as Speaker of the House of Representatives, and though he would make a good President he leads in the wrong direction.  Gingrich would make a good Vice President for the right candidate.   Michelle Bachmann is my choice of the current field.  Her policies are right, she has energy, brains, values, and she ain’t bad lookin' either.  Michelle's personal life is a tribute to her Christianity, her values, her strength and her willingness to lead by example.  But Michelle starts with the poltical base of a Congressperson.  This base usually is not big enough to draw the monies needed to run a successful primary campaign.  Michelle as the most conservative candidate presently standing could draw alot of money from the right, maybe.  If Sarah doesn't get in, and Michelle is still standing in the Texas primary my vote would go for her.

Mitt Romney may be the nominee of the Republican Party, and given how poorly Obama is doing as President, Romney could win.  America would lose.  And I won't vote for him, even against Obama.  America needs a new direction, not a new bus driver going slower in the same direction.  Romney is a blue state politician which means below any conservative rhetoric he might espouse is a dedicated RINO - moderate.  Obama Care is copy of Romney's Massachusetts’s version!  Can't vote for him no matter what.  If the rest of the conservatives feel as I do, a Romney nomination means Republican defeat.

Ron Paul.  An enigma. He doesn't look like a President.  And while that may sound small of me, looks count, not only to me, but to the world.  But Paul is a one of kind.  He is so right on so many things, maybe he is political savior.  Maybe appearances shouldn't count.  If Obama's name didn't count when America was fighting a war on terrorism against Moslem terrorists, maybe Paul's looks don't count either.  Paul adds alot to the debate, but his libertarian side is something I can't accept.  Freedom is something very precious, not to be squandered on homosexual marriage and using drugs.

Rick Perry is making a lot of news here in Texas.  This past weekend the prayer vigil he organized in Houston drew thirty thousand people.  His profession of Christian faith, and prayers to God for our nation were a truly great example of what is needed in our nation.  We need to move closer to God, we need to embrace Him as a nation.  We need to involve Him in our governance and we need to thank Him for our blessings.  Perry did good - but he is too much like the last President from Texas. Perry did what Obama could not do.  Perry is the longest serving governor in the nation (giving him more than  a decade of executive experience) and a long record on a wide variety of issues.  Perry is no conservative, but because he stands in a conservative state, surrounded by conservatives, he could be confused for one.

Rubio, Christie and others are rookies. They have no real record.  Like Obama, we don't really know how they will act under pressure, what their priorities are, who they are as leaders.  Caution should be exercised when considering the wonder boys.

Sarah is still my choice...by a long distance.  Sarah has the potential to be a national leader on par with Ronald Reagan.  Sarah is an excellent communicator, a woman with common sense, leadership experience, the grit to stand up to any other nation or her own people.  She is also like Sylvester Stallone, a person who has talent in his field and the self-confidence, dedication and stamina to hang in there through the tough early days when no one says you can do it.  Stallone made it because he didn;t give up, and didn't sell himself short.

Sarah is of the people.  She talks like us, looks like us, has a family and house like us.  Yes, she has had events in her family which were less than perfect, but she handled those events as a loving mother, not as an ambitious politician. Sarah isn't begging us for our vote. She is who she is.  A modern day Winston Churchill in a skirt.  A woman who sees clearly, talks straight, and acts as she talks.

Sarah has not been "educated" within the beltway.  She looks at things afresh. She dares to think of ways to resolve issues.

America's greatness has always rested in her people led by a leader who can touch their soul and inspire them to reach even higher than before.  President Reagan could do that.  He knew our hearts.  He knew what made us smile, and what stirred our spirit.  He could see the horizon and navigate true.  Sarah has those same qualities.

I am a man.  No really, I mean the old fashioned man.  I don't accept "diversity" or the new values, or the social agendas of liberal professors in classrooms as better than the values of the America I grew up in.  Racism was here and evil, and is still here and evil.  But, dealing with one real problem does not mean liberals are right when they invent new problems, new issues.   I do believe in God, do believe we were made by Him.  I believe men and women have roles designed by God.  I believe women as a gender were given special gifts to be mothers, and men gifts to be hunters and protectors.  I went to an all-male orphanage, and an all-male military college. I served in the Infantry, which still doesn't have women to this day.  So I am a Neanderthal.  But, above that, I am a Christian who was given a gift by God to see the quality in a person.  I have been blessed to have served with some great men in a variety of different roles.  And I have known great women, not the least of whom is my wife.  And I can see in Sarah a true, inspirational leader who a nation could follow.

Sarah, the clock is ticking and people like me are waiting. The folks with the real money, and the real power are lining up behind folks.  If you are resting your hopes on a deadlocked convention, ...well, maybe that's a divine plan, and if He's telling you to wait, wait.  But, I sure would love to see you announce.
