House Republicans act forcefully, Democrats in Senate punt again!
Republicans have done their duty...now we wait. by Mark Vogl

If nothing else is true, the House of Representatives, controlled by the Republican Party after the people rejected the Democrats in 2010, have acted. But in the Senate, where the Democrats are still in control, nothing is happening concerning the debt ceiling issue and the deficit.
Congressman Louie Gohmert (R), of Tyler, Texas talked a long while with Sean Hannity about the present situation within the United States. Congressman Gohmert had been the author of a bill which would have stopped federal income taxes on all Americans for one half a year to spur the American economy. Gohmert thought putting dollars in the pockets of all American taxpayers would be more beneficial for the economy than the bail out passed by the Democrats! Gohmert is a common sense conservative who says the same things in his East Texas district as he says 1300 miles away in the nation's capital. At home Gohmert is so popular the Democrats don't even mount a challenge of Louie.
During their visit on Friday, Hannity and Gohmert talked about the following facts, the House of Representatives have:
1. Passed a full repeal of Obama Care.
2. Passed Congressman Ryan's long term budget plan.
3. Passed Cut, Cap and Balance Debt Ceiling plan.
In the Senate the Democrats have not even proposed a federal budget in 800 days. They did kill Obama's budget, but they didn't respond with one of their own, and they won't consider the one proposed by the House! So the Democrats just sit.
Unlike the Senate, where moderate Republicans (RINO's) like John McCain and others, seem tied to the failed policies which have brought our nation to this point, the Republicans in the House, influenced by the Tea Party movement, have done what they were sent to Washington to do; put a restraint on spending!
Negotiations continue but the clock is running. August 2 is an artificial deadline set by the Democrats. The President reported that seniors might not receive their Social Security checks if the debt ceiling were not raised. But Gohmert told the Hannity audience that claim was false. Gohmert said the Social Security funds were separate from the Federal budget and that there was plenty of money to pay the social security recipients. In addition, Gohmert said there was also plenty of money for paychecks for the military!
With a national debt of 14.5 trillion dollars, Americans seem to have finally awakened to the runaway credit card and polls are standing steady behind the cut spending, no new taxes plan of the Republicans. This far in debt, we simply can't afford Obama's Hope and Change.
For once there seems to be a real unity between the people of America, and their representatives in the House. Neither the people nor the Republicans have given an inch on the issue of raising the debt ceiling.
President Obama needs to begin to adjust his thinking. If the Republicans won't budge in the House, and if Obama doesn't want to be the first President in the history of the nation to deal with insufficient debt authorization to run the government, than it might be time for the President to fold. As i wrote last week, the Republicans have five aces, and they know it. For once, maybe since Newt Gingrich and the Republican Congress of 1995, a body of lawmakers is sticking to what they promised they would do when they ran for office. The 2010 election was a clear rejection of President Obama's socialism. Our economy continues to stagnant as the threat of more taxes hangs over us. Investors see no reason to invest now, until the smoke clears and they can make a better evaluation of the nation's direction.
Meanwhile House Republicans feel so comfortable with what they have already done. They went on recess, back to their home districts for the weekend. The Republicans have set the table, now it’s time to see if the Democrats are smart enough to accept the Republican solution, or will they put the nation in jeopardy by not offering solutions, but rejecting the reality of the Republican solutions?.
One side note. Texas is losing one of its US Senators, and Louie Gohmert is my choice for that position. I talked to Louie about it several times while he was back home. He smiled, but alas I guess he may think there are others more entitled. I don't. Louis is a US Army veteran, an attorney, and a very smart country boy. He is honest, forthright, and like most Texans doesn't flinch. Louie would make an excellent Senator. Wish he would consider it, and more than that, wish Texans would draft him for the job. In any event, we need Louie's voice in Washington!

Mark,
What is the greatest fear of progressives? It just may be that when and if the ceiling is not raised and the the social security checks go out, the military is paid, the debt interest is paid and whatever money is left is divided amongst the rest of the government at Obama's direction, the world does not come to and end, the dogs will eat the dog food and the progressives, well they will be viewed in a whole new light. Rest assured though, they, the progressives, will have a whole new script of lies to tell. No money for the Departments of Education, Energy, IRS, EPA......................., one can only hope. I feel down right giddy! My horse looks worried though.
