Homogeneity requires force. by Jahfre Fire Eater

It is an impressive show of the impenetrability of faith when libertarians ignore human action, and the likely consequences of that action, to blame the under-whelming success of their incessant evangelical tactics on everything they can dream up...except the flaws in their ideology and tactics. Flaws they cannot 'imagine' even when a spotlight is shined upon them;
especially this one: Homogeneity requires force.
Libertarians need to learn from the past century of success by progressives. Progressives abandoned their evangelical, self-righteous, self-marginalizing behavior nearly a century ago to take over the Democratic Party. They separated their faith (in Government) from the political party best suited to implement the tenets of their faith upon those who do not share that faith.
If libertarians do not succeed in harnessing the power of the GOP to implement the tenets of their faith (in Liberty) the GOP will soon become a lock-step nationalistic/patriotic refuge for right-wing supporters of unlimited government and scoundrels of various other sorts as well; just as the Democratic Party has become the home of the lovers of unlimited government and the welfare state path to oblivion.
Granted, it is easier for Progressives to put aside their ego to implement a strategy for success because selflessness is supposedly one of the tenets of their faith. While many libertarians have severe challenges in the selfless department is not completely impossible for libertarians to manage quelling their self-righteousness for more liberty-related reasons; Ron Paul is a perfect example for libertarians who wish to begin exhibiting constructive political behavior. Sadly, most will remain unwitting slaves to their ego as planned by the progressives in the implementation of their divide-and-conquer paradigm that many libertarians have swallowed hook, line and sinker for several generations.
The fact is that only under a limited government can either progressive or libertarian faiths, or Christian or Jewish faiths for that matter, flourish. When one faith attempts to impose its tenets on others using the force of law or direct violence, diversity of thought is in jeopardy...no matter which faith attempts to become 'the government.'
Libertarians need to learn the difference between their faith and viable tools for allowing their faith to flourish; such as: a system of government or a political party. They, the politically constructive libertarians, are the only hope this nation has against the progressive rot and the inevitable horrors that follow it.
The struggle is ferocious yet I believe enough libertarians can endeavor to quell their self-righteousness sufficiently to take up the defense of liberty through the installation of a GOP congress that will place absolute and continuous limits on the future growth of government, eventually abolishing the possibility of the fiat currency which makes unlimited (but temporary, in every case so far) government growth possible. Come on libertarians, walk away from self-marginalization and the adrenalin high associated with your outrage over your self-imposed political futility. Learn from the Progressive's successes and beat them at their own game.

Le sigh.
The only way libertarians can do as you propose is by emulating the Religious Right and be willing to "take our toys and go home", by saying "we'd rather you lose than win without us." That's the secret to the power of the Theocons.
Until the Ron Paul campaign, the Republican Liberty Caucus didn't have the spine to attempt that. Now they're exploring the potential to have a spine implanted.
It's been proposed many times since the founding of the LP, that libertarians do a takeover of the GOP. Very well. Give us a war strategy. Give us the details how.
