Media pundits love to portray Ron Paul as a "spoiler." In a presidential race that otherwise promises "politics as usual," this kind of "spoiling" is the greatest of virtues! by creator

♣ In his thought provoking article titled "Who Do You Have in the Ninth?", Nolan Chart columnist Gary Wood compares the presidential election to a horse race. Voters are all too often swayed by trivial gamesmanship ploys rather than abiding moral principles.
Further distorting the purpose of an election, pundits frequently speak of Ron Paul as being some kind of "spoiler," as if there were something inherently good at risk of being damaged by Dr. Paul's candidacy. Nothing could be further from the truth!
American Heritage Dictionary spoil - v. intr.
To become unfit for use or consumption, as from decay. Used especially of perishables, such as food.
The word "spoil," more properly applied, speaks of food left out in the heat. Things like rancid milk. Worm-infested meat. Rotten fruit. I submit that "politics as usual" is far more closely aligned with the putrid images and odors of "spoiled" food. It is the big-government, irresponsible, professional-politician jockeys in this race, aided by their media lackys, that long ago became "spoiled" and are now the real "spoilers". The federal government "status quo" is already "spoiled" to its very core, having abused the trust of a gullible nation and robbed us blind through the inflationary currency debasement brought about by profligate spending on foreign wars.
No, Ron Paul is no "spoiler" - if anything, he is the "salt" in this presidential race, the hope of preserving and restoring the Liberty that America once proudly held out to the world. I urge you to read Dr. Paul's writings, to listen to what he has to say. Ron Paul represents genuine Hope for America.
There is another sense of the word "spoil" that I will here and now publicly confess: Ron Paul does intend to bring home some "spoils" to the people of America -- the "spoils" of freedom and liberty ! He does intend to plunder the halls of power of their ability to keep a free people in bondage to taxation and inflation. To that end, we should all wish Dr. Paul godspeed!

I agree that Ron Paul is no "spoiler". When I hear the word "spoiler" I see the old Saturday afternoon image of the local wrestling match on tv and in runs the guy wearing the black and shinny face mask to help the bad guy win the match. Now that is the Spoiler. That's why I can't stand to hear someone call Ron Paul the "spoiler". Dang it!!!.
This is quite accurate...the use of the 'spoiler' title has always bothered me. It is our two-party, plutocratic oligarchy which truly has spoiled. Hopefully you won't mind if I post this at Hear My Thunder.
Gary is right and my column has been publishing evidence of how his plutocratic oligarchy is maintained.
Unfortunately previous comments here and the tiny level of interest in my articles is evidence of how effectively the oligarchy controls public debate - even on a site justified by the need to challenge the control of news and debate by the MSM.
