I remember seeing pictures of Saddam Hussein being hung and his boys all shot up. I remember vividly those chosing to jump from the twin towers to their deaths instead of being burned alive. And also thinking that when the towers fell there were many at that moment being burned, crushed and killed.
There are many more examples ingrained in memory I have seen over the course of my sixty-plus years that have probably done plenty of damage to my psyche. Many much more violent than seeing a self confessed slime bag coward, mass-murderer shot in the head.
But, I would truly like to thank our President for not exposing us to more of this type of violence and brutality. I am sure that watching news, television and movies showing graphic violence and death over the years has done us extreme psychological harm and any more exposure might just push us over the edge.
Juveniles that we are, I appreciate our President's sensitivity to our needs and his making decisions for us which are better than we could possibly make for ourselves. He, in his wisdom has convinced me that I don't need to see anything more. And thanks also for helping me understand how insensitive it would be for us to blatantly allow the Muslim world to be exposed to this type of horror. It would probably be too much to bear for them to see.
