The budget battle reflects the two America's, one which sees government as a necessary evil, the other which sees the government as the savior. by Mark Vogl

Economics is the reality which eventually frames what the political debate.
Yesterday's last minute compromise is just one more compromise in a series which have led the United States of America to the brink of bankruptcy.
Suppose 150 years ago the South had left the Union because it felt the centralization of power would ruin the nation as originally intended.
Suppose the new Southern nation had prohibited spending for corporate subisidies. Suppose it prohibited earmarks.
Suppose the Confederate Constitution required two thirds of both the Senate and Congress to vote for any spending increase above the President's budget.
Suppose the Confederate Constitution gave the President a Line Item veto.
Suppose the Confederate Constitution called the Almighty God to bless and provide wisdom to the Southern nation.
Suppose the Confederate Constitution required a person to be natural born in the South to hold any federal officer, or to vote.
Suppose the Confederate Constitution prohibited importation of new slaves, even from the northern states that did not join the Southern nation.
Suppose the Confederate Constitution blocked any spending which would help one industry, and blocked central government money from paying for the interstate highway system, or building railroads.
And suppose the Confederate Constitution encouraged free trade with all the nations in the world.
Could you support the Southern nation if all the above were articulated in their Constitution?
Guess what...all of the above is the Southern Constitution!
There have been two separate America's almost since the writing of the Articles of Confederation. The original Constitution was a compact of compromise between the two America's.
Lincoln violated the principles of self-governance, consent of the governed, and the supremacy of the states over the central government. Through force of arms Lincoln sustained the union and imposed one America where the values and priorities came from one group, one region, ignoring the rights and priorities of the other. And they use slavery as the excuse, and as a means to block consideration an alternative America, closer to the original constitution and what the Founding Fathers had created..
Look at the cracks in America and you see the same differences (with the exception of slavery) that were evident in 1860.
So now that slavery is no longer an issue, now that that national sin has been removed., is it now time that we consider how to facilitate formally the two different America's, to allow both nations to exist, as partners?
At present, the dominance of the left, the north, and the social progressives is not only oppressive and completely contrary to the original meaning of the Constitution and to the will of the majority of Americans, but it is bankrupting the nation and destroying both the potential and opportunities for our future. If one section of the nation wants to join the European Union, if not through treaty, through similarity in policy, and the rest of the nation does not want too, than we need to revert to the old Constitution where the states, and not the federal government were responsible for domestic policy and the taxation related to those issues.
