Who Are These People? Do you wonder who the folks are that change their mind so frequently?by EJ Moosa

We are bombarded by polls daily reporting the current standings in the 2008 Election Process. Poll results are reported to us like scores of a ball game. Candidates are rising, they are falling, have they peaked? We just do not really know. And frankly, I do not get these folks who change their mind on who they support so often.
So I would like to know who you are and why you change so often? Does a candidate get you mad? Do they suddenly make little sense?
Ron Paul's supporters have been reported to be the most loyal. So it must be a good feeling for Paul to know that once a voter gets his message and they like it, they will support him for the rest of election cycle.
But what of these other voters? Those that switch their minds on a weekly or monthly basis are looking for something and I would like to understand what it is. So if you are one of these switchers, would you please take a few minutes and share with us the answers to the following questions?
1) How many times have you changed your support so far?
2) Have you contributed funds to all the campaigns that you have supported?
3) Is it possible that you will change your mind again?
4) What could a candidate do to secure your support without the risk of losing that support again?
5) Is it important that you pick the winner, or that the candidate best represents your principles?
As a Ron Paul supporter, and having previously supported Harry Browne and Michael Badnarik in their Libertarian campaigns for president, I have a difficult time understanding the constantly changing voter sentiments. By sharing your responses, I think you can help myself and others better understand this decision making process.

This is an interesting thought, EJ. I'd also be curious to know what others think about that. I think people who are loyal to core conservative principles will be loyal to a candidate who also stands for those principles. For me, those principles are:
1. The Rule of Law
2. Individual Liberty
3. Limited Government
4. Free Markets
5. Strong National Defense
Ron Paul is the only candidate who has demonstrated his conviction to these five principles. He is the first in my voting experience since Ronald Reagan's first term, before he had been fully corrupted by the neocons...or at least before I noticed that he had been corrupted.
People who are not loyal to principle but instead act out of passion involving a small set of specific issues are more likely to blow with the wind as they are buffeted by the breath of the news media. Most are painfully ill equipped to evaluate the source or credibility or spin applied to any new bit of information so in their decision process, the most recent information carries the most weight; thus the whimsy.
I don't really think I fit the profile you are looking for but I have changed my mind once. Yes, I actually donated money to the Tancredo campaign... After laughing at Ron Paul in the first debate somewhere, somehow his message actually broke through and I donated again, this time to celebrate the Boston Tea Party and I donated to the R3volution. After I realized the Constitution was more important than all those wankers over in the middle east, and although I have been a war supporter... I still cringe whenever I see muslims because I know what heppens to every country where they get too many muslims.. Good honest people start getting killed in the name of allah. I sincerely agree with Tancredo, if they touch this country again nuke Mecca. But the good Dr Paul is very convincing and I'd be willing to return to the original constitution before Lincon butchered it. I find it odd indeed that I am aligned with the anti-war crowd by supporting the Constitution but so be it and may we all win with this election, especially our children.
