An open letter to Sarah Palin, from a social conservative
Sarah Palin could be our next Ronald Reagan. She is American, and I trust her, but I want to ask her some questions. by Mark Vogl

Dear Governor Palin:
I was going to sit out the last election. After it became apparent John McCain seemed chosen by the GOP elite I had about given up. Only his selection of you brought me back to the GOP, though I didn't expect he could win, and to be honest, hoped he wouldn't. I am tired of being forced to vote for the lesser of two evils.
America is a nation of three hundred million, and we have alot of talented people. We shouldn't have to accept less than the best.
Sarah, let me be very blunt. I feel America has been betrayed by leaders in both parties. I believe our wealth and prosperity was squandered. I believe both parties are complicit in the creation of present state of affairs. And I am not sure about our future. We as a nation have turned from God. We have done it repeatedly and in many ways. Now I am no saint, and have sinned and sin now. But I do not deny my sins. I do not proclaim evil as normal or good.
There is a God, a right and wrong and a Christian Bible. Our nation should first be founded on this. If not, than the rest does not matter to me and the faster the US disolves the faster we have a chance to begin again with a Christian God to build a nation we can be proud of. Will you invite God back into the US? .
Sarah, I will not vote for you, or any other Republican who ducks or is vague on important social issues like abortion or Gay Rights. If President Obama is right, and we are not a Christian nation...than as James Taylor sang long age, let it all fall down. Will you reverse the policies in the military concerning homosexuals? And will you say publicly you oppose abortion and Gay marriage or unions?
I will not support a Republican who won't set as her/his first national security priority sealing the border with Mexico, and secondly placing Mexico as our number one foreign policy priority. Will you give Mexico, and our border the attention they deserve?
Sarah, another thing is our ability to sustain ourselves as a nation in terms of energy and food. We have the resources. I absolutely believe you know the energy issues...I read your book! America can start its 21st Century journey by developing our own national resources to exploit the technologies which are developing. Will you propose Drill Here, Drill Now legislation and policies?
Now here's one you won't hear from many conservatives, but I am a strong supporter of NASA and space exploration. I believe we should colonize the moon, and move on to Mars. Our nation reaching for the stars has untold benefits. First, it drives the continuation of technological development. Second, it continues our pioneer heritage. Third it helps motivate students and expands our dreams. Of course, it helps with national security. And lastly, the economic benefits both of continued struggle, and ultimately of our success are immeasurable. Can we lead the way back to the moon and beyond?
Sarah, we are in a new world where there are many nations, many powers, many interests. Islam is a force on the planet, and to the extent that God is their motivation, that could be a very good thing. But, we are a Christian nation, and need to end the social experiment known as diversity or multi-culturalism. Instead, we must move ahead to see how we can find common ground. Our alliance and friendship with Israel is nonnegotiable, but that does not mean we have to be enemies with Moslem nations. In world with so much poverty, so much pain, there is plenty to do. Can we allow Moslems to be Moslems in their own lands without US interference?
Sarah, patriotism is missing in our board rooms. International corporations, and competing in international markets for American investment have replaced nationalism in the board room, and at Harvard and Yale. This is a mistake.
We need an American First economic plan; nne that recognizes national self-sufficiency and national interest first. We need to use supply and demand to pay for the importance of menial and non-skilled labor, and blue collar labor. Making things is an American tradition. Innovation, quality, and custom made products should be our hallmarks. Manufacturing and making things must be embraced as equal to a college degree. Not everyone, maybe as few as one third of all high school graduates need to go to college.
Sarah, America is great. The potential of our people is only held back by our inability to free it, and our refusal to call on God as our inspiration and moral compass.
Lastly, one of the great strengths of early America was the decentralization of most domestic policies and the competition between the states. That is where the real power of our nation is. Surrender to the states that which has been taken from them, their sovereignty over domestic issues. Give the states back the power to govern themselves. We don't need diversity, but we do need difference through the respective states.
Our future is wide open. Our paradigm can be reset. Our priorities can be corrected after we reclaim the values which founded this nation.
Please give us a chance...will you be our leader?

There is no comparison between Palin and Reagan. She has yet to star in one bad movie. She has a long way to go to match Reagan's credentials. On the issues core to being a big government war mongering neocon she is getting pretty close. In this time of protests between net tax spenders and net tax payers if Palin can win the GOP nomination then I believe there is no hope for ever limiting government. We have a chance in this coming cycle to make a strong defense against the unlimited growth of government. Only the GOP can do this. The Dems certainly will not and no 3rd party can ever create effective, constructive political outcomes; so it is left to the GOP and rests on their choices over the next 18 months. Individual choices inside the GOP are the only actions that can limit government. The time is ripe. Sarah is rotten.
