Bread and Circus, Egypt and a New Political Delusion

A new political delusion will manifest to justify our not dealing with the dire economic issues we continue to face. While trying to find bearing in the Egyptian crises the two main political parties will surely find justification to distract from and ignore our true crisis - what needs to be done to abate the problems firmly weighing upon our economy.
I'm hearing too much that doesn't make sense and too little that will make a difference about our economic crisis or of the problems facing the Middle East. The Egyptian deal at this time though is not really relevant to the critical issues here if one puts the objectivity hat on and gives that notion a little consideration. Perhaps, one might find relevance in the possibility of a similar crisis happening here in the future reacting to the way our politicians have been behaving and ignoring our own interests!
Fact is it really shouldn't matter much to us what is going on around the Middle East right now, aside maybe from the possible impact on the future price of oil in reaction to the instability. Of course, this is being compounded by the lack of a realistic domestic oil policy and gouging by the President's progressive inspired drilling restrictions.
Unfortunately, this whole crisis is just what the doctor ordered politically for the President and also too seems helpful politically for his opposition. One thing will become perfectly clear - this Egyptian disruption will be gratuitously important to all of them. To the White House it creates the diversion they need to justify bigger government and more spending; plus, it surely will pad the position of those "Empire" maintaining Republicans that feel the only way to sanity in this world is to continue to "sanitize" the rest of it. Ironically, both can defend themselves in a relatively "given" importance and each can justify having a pass at ignoring the real issues at hand.
While big government grandiosity and importance can wrongly be seen as more relevant now due to the emotional aspect of this current (or any) crisis (see Rahm). Everything else, domestically, or from any global perspective cannot cloud the importance of their ignoring the salient issue to we citizens... we are broke and A TOO BIG GOVERNMENT KEEPS GROWING AND SPENDING our children's future!
I wasn't really sure why I started writing this using the words I did... the bread and circus part. Maybe I was thinking of one of the true great diversions at the end of one of only a few great empires in the history of the planet at its demise.
