Rationalizing the Irrational

Oh, yes. Politics will be spun, lies will pass straight-faced through the elite-owned media, and outrageous language will issue from those talking heads, cravenly kneeling at their masters' feet as they beg scraps from the table. May their chains weigh lightly on their wrists as they obediently lick the hands that feed them.

J.R. Dunn, consulting editor of American Thinker has a rational reaction to last Saturday's Tuscon massacre: "I have no intention of trying to draw any "lessons" from this incident. You cannot extract rational conclusions from an irrational event. It's clear that Jared Lee Loughner is simply insane. From what I've been able to gather, Peter Pan, Napoleon the pig, and Adolf Hitler encouraged him to go out and punish people for illiteracy and bad grammar. Anyone seeking to derive a "lesson" out of this is welcome to try.

So there's little to be said for the furrowed-brow types who are furiously scratching their chins over this matter. It's pointless. There's no "there" there. There is nothing to be learned from this about guns, public security, or politics in general. Lunatics will go off, in the same way that tires occasionally go flat and lightning strikes where it's not supposed to. To suggest that there is anything concrete to be done about this is to suggest the absurd. Where do we start? Banning Peter Pan? How about Animal Farm? Or maybe The Communist Manifesto?"

The duly elected Democrat sheriff of Pima County, Clarence Dupnik, in his initial statement to the press, implied that the Tea Party, Sarah Palin, and Glenn Beck, among others, were the supporting parties in this tragic event. Without a single shred of evidence, Dupnik lays blame for the actions of a psychopath on the most influential grass-roots political movement in generations. In a Saturday press conference following the massacre in Tucson, Dupnik said:

"When you look at unbalanced people, how they respond to the vitriol that comes out of certain mouths about tearing down the government -- the anger, the hatred, the bigotry that goes on in this country is getting to be outrageous."

Even Giffords' father was quick to join the 'TEA party assault.' Asked if his daughter had any enemies, Spencer Giffords said, "Yeah -- the whole Tea Party." The separation of political and mortal enemies notwithstanding during his time of debilitating grief.

However, the Arizona Star reports in a story called "Dupnik: Suspect is mentally unstable": "Dupnik said the suspected shooter has made death threats before and been contacted by law-enforcement officers. The threats weren't against Giffords, Dupnik said." As the old saying goes, a lie will travel around the world ten times before the truth even gets it's shoes on. Sheriff Dupnik's elite masters must be very proud of him.

The same mantra was picked up by such bastions of truth and journalistic integrity as Politico, Daily Kos, et al. There are revived moves to legislate against first, second, fourth and fifth amendment rights, all initiated by Democrats on Capitol Hill. What part of "Shall not be infringed" do they really not understand? There is even talk of a bill to criminalize 'not being nice' to one's elected representative (OK that last one's a stretch, but the rest is all true).

In a release entitled "Thoughts on Today's Terrible Tragedy", Thirteen Patriots organizer Chrissy Prazeres spoke for many of us saying:

"What a tragedy for Arizona and our United States. I pray that Congresswoman Giffords pulls through and I pray for the family of those who were killed-especially the parents of the little girl. The shooter should be punished to the full extent of the law!

It is unfortunate that there are some out there that immediately tried to score political points off this tragedy. Many of the facts that are coming out now show that this was a very disturbed man with rambling, confused thoughts. Two of his favorite books were "Mein Kampf" and "The Communist Manifesto", books that many would have you believe are on opposite sides of the political spectrum, but even Hitler admitted that there was very little difference between the Nazis and the Communists - that difference being nationalism vs. globalism.

What a tragedy also for public service. How are we going to get decent people to serve when, not only do they have to worry about being dragged through the mud, but they have to worry about being physically attacked? Nothing seems to be "off limits" anymore, not even a candidate's handicapped infant! How are we, as constituents, supposed to be able to relate to our public servants if they are afraid of us? Many of us are working so hard to develop a positive relationship with our politicians so we can exercise our public duty as citizens.

This tragedy has affected us all in many ways. I pray that people will take Speaker of the House Boehner's advice that we can disagree without being disagreeable. We must remember that we are all Americans and should strive to bring back the civility and decency that has been missing from our culture-especially our political culture. "

Not exactly wringing her hands in glee there, is she?

Beware those who try to use this tragic incident to advance a political agenda. As ex-Obama Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel is so fond of saying "You can't let a good crisis go to waste".

Dupnik admitted that his department has not uncovered one shred of evidence to support his now well-publicized assertion that 'vitriolic rhetoric' incited shooter.
