The Republican Party is finished.
It's time for a new second party. This new second party needs to be as unifying to its constituent members as the Democratic party is to its.
At the heart of the Democratic party is government money, government contracts, government unions, government entitlements, and government funded not for profits. Money connects the disparate elements and segments of the party. Whether you are a teacher, a professor, a union leader, or special interest like the environmentalists, you are united to the Democratic party by your job!
The alternative party needs an adhesive equal in strength to money, and that means ideas or concepts which are both compelling and consistent. This would include religious faith, Christianity, a commitment to liberty and freedom, a commitment to states rights and an opposition to centralized power. These political adhesives must in some way be integral to the life style of large segments of the population. And they must act as a litmus test for candidates. RINO Republicans have proved their poison in this lame duck session.
I am tired of hearing some Republican promoters talk about realities in northern blue states, and how its better to have 75% agreement on issues, than have Democrats in those seats. I disagree.
When Democrats have the power they act in extravagance and lunacy. The great defeat which just occurred was because the liberals were able to enact their policies without concern for the rest of us, the majority.
Conservative America needs to be satisfied with maintaining a prohibitive minority...enough seats to stop the progressive agenda. We need enough seats to shut down government.
Conservatives need to tighten the circle. We dont need to throw out the incumbent liberals and than fund the government, programs, andpolicies which Obama and the liberalsput in place.
Also, we need to start openly talking about secession as a political option. If America, including California, New York, Massachusetts, Oregon, etc. can't reject socialism, than its time to dissolve this experiment and start a new American experiment. I believe that open discussion of secession would do alot to limit activist Courts and overlycentralized government. But if it didn't, than secession should be an option.

Did you forget that Oregon was the termination of the "Oregon Trail"? Oregon has always had the most independently thinking people in the country and still does. People live here to be removed from the orthodox and restricted world view dominant in your article.
Spend a couple of days in John Day, Ashland, Brookings, the 100 year old Portland neighborhoods, Hood River, Enterprise and let me know how "socialist" you find them.
If you are talking about "succession", then succeed in your own little Christian world and leave the folks of Oregon out of your grand scheme.

Actually what you're looking for has been around for many, many years. It's called the American Constitution Party, or in a few states, the American Independent Party. http://www.constitutionparty.com/ It's the third largest party in the country, measured by party registration (Libertarian Party usually gets more votes, but doesn't have as many registered members).
