Normalizing perversion, a legacy for all to be proud of...

The decline continues. American citizenship means nothing, illegal drug use pervades all generations of living Americans, and now the US government takes a huge step to normalize perverse behavior.

The nation sinks further, turning from its Christian roots.

Why is polygamy different from homosexuality?  It's not, and so marriage of three or more is the next step in progress. Why not?

When you move from the Bible in defining right and wrong, and what is moral, there is no real end to what can be.

The allowance of openly gay soldiers will have a real adverse impact on our Armed Forces.  But, more than that, forcing the military to accept this is symbolic of forcing each of us to accept homosexuality.

Rush Limbaugh, and Hannity and all the rest of conservative talk show hosts are now on the hot seat.  Those conservatives don't want to be against Gays...they make room for them at every opportunity.  No they don't champion their cause...because the rest of us conservatives, especially social conservatives and the Religious Right oppose homosexuality. But on this issue we had no public voice.

America, through its embrace of casinos, and state lotteries, and pornography, and the lower standards on television, and its legalization of murdering infants certainly moved from God a long time ago.But now, we have gone even further embracing the name of Sodom.

The Republicans are NOT innocent here.  They had no litmus tests for their candidates.  The Republican Gay club is well known...though I can't ever remember hearing a Democratic Gay Club.

When we look at America's future this decision signals despair, chaos, perversion, social orphans, and a declining Christianity.  It may be President Obama is right, the UnitedStates is no longer a Christian nation.

Mark,

You state "The allowance of openly gay soldiers will have a real adverse impact on our Armed Forces." What adverse effects are you refering to?

By doing the math, I just don't see this as a crushing blow to the effectiveness of the military.

There is a total of 1.5 million folks serving in the military. That's about half a percent of the population. The total number of homosexuals in the country is about 1% ( U.S. Census Bureau. Year 2000 Census.)
or 3.1 million.

If half a percent of homosexuals join up, that's only 15600 total. Once they're assigned around the world I doubt a unit would even have one gay member.

Don,

Lets start with your assumption, there are only 1 % of the population that is Gay. That is about 2 percent lower than other estimates I have seen, but I will accept yours. Why change the law for 1%? That would be my first question. The military operates in a very unique environemnt with a very unique mission. The status of military is so different that many "rights' freely available to citizens are suspended in the military...for example Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Association, and others.

But lets to get the essence of my objection. First, integrity is required from top to bottom. This integrity requires honestly which is constantly visible and constantly in tact. People operate on open motives. What a leader says to his men must be open and honest so that a degree of trust develops between the leader and his men, and between peers. This is reason why adultry is still a crime which is prosecuted.

Military units, specifically combat units are people units where personal interactions are the difference between combat ready units, and units which break under pressure.

A leader tries to simplify things, to standardize things between leader and men. All get the same treatment. All work to the same standard. The integration of woman has caused big problems here. And those problems are still there. All this decision does is add a whole new problem in interpersonal relations.

At this point I am not as concerned as I was 30 years ago. For me, this nation is not worth defending. Between massive use of drugs, the government's own absence of defending our nation at the border, the ejection of God from the middle of our life or our nation, .... I was a soldier first. I thank God I left that profession before Desert Storm. This is not the nation I was born too, and not the nation I would fight for.
