Food Safety or Food Fascism?

...things have come down to the wire now with the Lame Duck Senate poised to vote on S 510--a "food safey act" that would empower the FDA unimaginably...

Speaking a couple of days before the past, recent mid-term elections at the University of Indiana,  Dr. Ron Paul said, "I don't think the FDA protects us; I think the FDA exists for the drug companies. That's what I think... Now the FDA wants to get into regulating every single thing you eat... and regulate everything that might be holistic medicines and vitamins and they want worldwide regulations... I try to teach others including my patients that the use of prescription drugs is very dangerous...." Minute 39/40 at http://vimeo.com/16348205

Dr. Paul is referring to pending passage of Bill S 510--a House of Reprenstatives version of this bill has already been passed!

Now, the Lame Duck session of the Senate may well pass S 510 before its break and transition to the newly elected Senate next year--opportunities to pass it prior to the mid-term elections were forestalled--perhaps because of the mid-term elections themselves and the undoubted potential unpopularity of voting for such legislation by incumbent Senators hoping for re-election--but now, post-election and in Lame Duck session, they have less to fear--at least until the next election rolls around...

According to the Natural Solutions Foundation's "talking points" against the passage of this Bill, some of the more objectionable points of the Bill, to our continued Liberty, include:

"1. The "Manager’s Amendments" do not satisfy our Food Freedom Amendment Citizens Petition which demands a new law protecting our local, natural, GMO-Free, wholesome food production exemplified by family farms and ranches, home food businesses, home and community gardens and local farmers’ markets. The Amendment, which must be included in any Food Safety bill states:

"No provision of Federal Law giving regulatory oversight to any Federal department or agency shall be deemed to apply (a) to any home, home-business, homestead, home or community gardens, small farm, organic or natural agricultural activity, (b) to any family farm or ranch, or (c) to any natural or organic food product, including dietary supplements, as protected under the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994."

2. S.510, as written, threatens small farm, home, local/organic and community food production with onerous rules that, while perhaps appropriate for industrialized food production, will create impossible "barriers against entry" that will rapidly destroy such local and natural production. No protective language is included in the Senate bill that satisfies these concerns.

3. As an example of the type of controls imposed, Section 106 provides in part for the regulations issued to be kept secret from the public, "In the interest of national security, the Secretary … may determine the time and manner in which the guidance documents issued under paragraph (1) are made public…"

4. The bill as written, in effect, incorporates Codex "HARMonization" provisions of the discredited "Dietary Supplement Safety Act" S.3002 and actually calls upon the FDA to recommend harmonization of American nutritional freedoms with Codex Alimentarius’ restrictions [Section 306(c)(5)].

5. A clause which can be used to force Codex into our lives is Section 404: "Nothing in this Act… shall be construed in a manner inconsistent with… any …treaty or international agreement to which the United States is a party…"

6. Section 306(c)(5) provides a road map to implementing Codex: "Recommendations on whether and how to harmonize requirements under the Codex Alimentarius."

7. Cost of Program: Section 401, $825,000,000 in the first year means a deeper deficit.

8. S.510 fails to protect local food production. An amendment offered by Senator Tester to "protect" family farms falls very short of the Food Freedom Amendment, ultimately only partially protecting a few very small family farms, representing a small percentage of local food production, and as inflation kicks in, without indexing, the "protections" will become meaningless.

"In 2009, the majority of family farms (60 percent) had gross sales of less than $10,000, but they accounted for only 2 percent of the total value of agricultural production… Family farms with gross sales of $10,000 to $249,999 were 30 percent of the family farms and were responsible for 18 percent of production. At the other end of the size distribution, the 10 percent of family farms that grossed at least $250,000 accounted for 80 percent of the value of production…"

For more than a year, the plan to capture – and kill – clean, local, organic, independent and safe farming has been wending its way through Congress. Last year, the devastating HR 2749 passed although we put up a good battle, delaying it for quite a while. However, at the end of the day, a good battle followed by a loss is still a loss. Then the field of battle shifted to the US Senate, where we’ve held the forces of Big Agra and Big Govt at bay for nearly a year… Now its time to educate the candidates for Congress. Now is the time to get meaningful commitments for the Food Freedom Amendment from the candidates.

We agree with Senator Tester’s sentiments, but not his amendment! "…we need to have better regulations for these multistate, huge corporations that take food off fields, throw it all together and distribute it to many states, I think the state and local entities can do a much better job (regulating) the people who are direct-marketing food…"

And we agree with Senator Coburn: "…the whole this bill represents a weighty new regulatory structure on the food industry that will be particularly difficult for small producers and farms to comply with (with little evidence it will make food safer).""

Kudos to the Natural Health Foundation for keeping abreast of the details of this Bill and opposing it!

Point # 3 is especially onerous in that it allows the FDA to establish regulations and guidelines that can be kept secret from the public!?! by reason of "national security" interests (?--we're talking food, dietary supplements and vitamins here)--the issuance of a regulation (law) "kept secret" is actually a retro-active law passed--entirely unConstitutional--for the Founding Fathers made this illegal in the Constitution based upon historical experience with the British monarchy--can you imagine being arrested for breaking the law for having broken it before it was officially/legally deemed to be illegal!?!--"But sirs, it wasn't illegal back at the time that I did it!"--"Sorry, it's illegal now, so you are now guilty and subject to full penalty!"--!?!...

This Bill ranks right up there with S McCain's proposed, "Unpriviledged Enemy Beligerant" Bill--i.e. legislation that is an absolute insult and afront to the guarantee of the US citizen's inalienable rights as outlined by the Declaration of Indepence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights--let alone the prospect that such abominable legislation should ever pass!!!

It's all in favor of big corporate AgriBiz, Chemical and Pharmaceutical interests (in other words big $$$=big campaign contributions) and like legislation is already in force in the EU and Canada--with dietary supplements removed from the shelves and from availabilty until the newly empowered regulatory agencies can "regulate" them (or not) to the citizen/consumer...

Here is very sad but relative testimonial from a woman who lost her husband to prostate cancer, her grand-daughter to pharmaceutical oversight and she, herself, had to have a mastectomy due to breast caner:

"As far as the natural meds are concerned, we had a bad experience with [my husband] LaVern with that.  He was taking a natural supplement called PC-SPES for his prostate cancer - and IT WAS WORKING for about 10 years, then the wonderful FDA decided they had to get rid of it so they said it was contaminated and took it off the market.  The USC Hospital/Med School in San Francisco was using it for their prostate cancer patients and they said, when the FDA took it off, that they had sentenced at least 10,000 men to death that they knew of.  It was almost two years before another product, very similar, but changed enough to get it back on the market came out, but by then it was too late for LaVern.   The oncologist that I went to for my breast cancer also saw LaVern when we were trying to figure something out to replace what he had been taking.  She asked what he was/had been taking and when I told her she said, "Oh yes, that works very well, but you can't get it any more," and I said, "Yes, we know, if we could get it we wouldn't be here."

Actually, something similarly related to the FDA happened with my grand-daughter Jana, that caused her death.  The FDA had taken Fentenyl off the market in June because of problems with it and then turned around and put it back on the market in August.  Apparently they hadn't told very many, even the doctors, that if you used a heating pad or took a hot shower with the Fentenyl patch on it could kill you -and apparently there had been cases reported that were kept really hush hush and that was why they took it off the market.  Jana was the first Nebraska death reported from this medication. "

Given its track record--I doubt that the idea that, "the FDA wants to get into regulating every single thing you eat... and regulate everything that might be holistic medicines and vitamins and they want worldwide regulations" is such a good idea, along with Dr. Paul...

...like I've said for a good while now, "cancer" is the result of exposure to toxins (insecticides, herbicides, preservatives, additives, etc.) and likewise complicated/magnified by inadequate nutrition, especially on the trace element level--recently, I have begun to view "plastics" as "their" vehicle of mass destruction--i.e. intentional population reduction--and which has been and is being used in order to deliver cancer-causing toxins to the masses--to"them"cancer mortalities are the collateral damages that they can make an exorbitent profit from while they continue to reduce the excess population...

...for over two decades now, I have felt that approval (in our case, FDA) of substances has, at a certain echolon of a very compartmentalized system of control, included information such as, "If we use this x-% of the population will develop cancer from it," and that this is OK with "them"--in order to further the reduction of the excess population--check out the Georgia Guidestones and realize that "they" want to maintain the global population at 500 million--already a massive population reduction agenda!!!--from our current 6 billion or so...

...as the Apostle Paul said, "It is a shame (digraceful), to even speak of the things that they (think they) do in secret"--but the Father knows all...

...insomuch that now legislation has already been passed in the EU and Canada that takes the dietary supplements off of the shelves!!!  And our US House of Representatives has already passed like law and our US Senate will soon do likewise so that we will not be allowed, legally, this dietary/nutritional recourse either...

...beyond this, I have only to reiterate anothers opinion--"If they feel so strongly and adamently and sincerely believe in the dire and genuine need for population reduction, let them volunteer to go first!!!"--for their fear of overpopulation is just that, FEAR--and it has no FAITH in God Almighty in Christ Jesus in it and His intentions for our future...
...this is a population reduction agenda which is being undertaken by an unmerited elite--who feel they deserve bio-fuels more than others deserve food!  And in the process innocent children starve and will continue to starve to death...
...it will only go on for so long, and then there will be a reckoning by God Almighty Himself...
...it's the between now and then that is of immediate concern to us...
