In his actions, Glenn Beck has undermined the agenda of Liberals and Progressives who are trying to establish tyrannical rule. In doing so, he undermines the three rules for control of subject populations.
Frank Herbert wrote the following:
A large populace held in check by a small but powerful force is quite a common situation in our universe. And we know the major conditions wherein this large populace may turn upon its keepers:
When they find a leader. This is the most volatile threat to the powerful; they must retain control of leaders.
When the populace recognizes its chains. Keep the populace blind and unquestioning.
When the populace perceives a hope of escape from bondage. They must never even believe that escape is possible!

Any watcher of Glenn Beck's programming will recognize that he has taken control away from the left in all three areas. He is the de facto leader of the counter-revolution. As he has said many times, he doesn't want to be. It's just that no one else is doing it.
The danger that must be watched for and for which Glenn Beck himself should be mindful of is not to be caught up in his own myth. This is very dangerous, for himself and his listeners. Unfortunately, while relaying his story of how the Kennedy Center tried to protest his prayer event held on 8/27/10 he started showings signs of personal tyranny.
He chuckled a bit that the Kennedy Center probably realized it was a bad idea to push him. This is an attitude that Glenn must suppress. If he falls into the trap of believing himself to be anything other than a rodeo clown who has been thrust into the spotlight, he will become subject to the same corruption he preaches against. And his listeners will become followers. Glenn must lead, but he must not attempt to become a hero or prophet.
On the second point, Glenn has shown people the chains that bind them. He is revealing how those chains are un-American. By exposing the agenda of the Progressive left, he has shown that the chains are real. The laws coming from these ideas are unjust, or will lead to injustice. They always have.
Glenn is also demonstrating, as our founders did in their writings that to rely on government and laws for rights is anathema to what America is founded on. Our freedom is dependent on the people's understanding that freedom is their right by dint of their existence, not government largess. We are individuals and it is by our own choice that we are free.
He is restoring faith in the founders who would have been horrified by the actions of the Progressives. Glenn has shown that The Constitution was written in a specific manner for specific reasons. But remember, we must not rely on our founders or our founding documents to retain honor and justice. We must know them as guides and foundations but actively choose freedom for ourselves.
This requires that we read these writings and know these men and women, and use their ideas as ignition sparks for our own understanding of freedom. We must reach their conclusions with our own reason lest we become parrots without our own creative spark. We must accept the mantle of responsibility that this self-discovery demands. We must own the personal responsibility that is required to be a free people.
Finally, Glenn Beck has restored hope. His rallies and his ratings demonstrate that his influence is strong. And he constantly tells his listeners that they can win. There is always hope. He tells them over and over again that they can win, that they do not have to accept the Progressive agenda.
He makes no illusions that liberty is easy. He makes no myth that the left has fewer resources. His rally on 8/28/10 is not remarkable because of attendance. As he pointed out on his program, the left can astro-turf in more people than he can.
But the problem with astro-turf is that it has no faith. It is short-sighted. There is no belief similar to the bed-rock behind the Tea party and behind Glenn Beck's rallies. Glenn brought a large group of people to Washington D.C. with no corporate sponsorship, nothing but his word. And he held a rally that kept its word to be about restoring honor and God and not playing politics. The participants held up no signs as was requested. These people came because they believe in the ideal of the rally. They paid their own way.
No rally from the left can organize like that. They will come because their union leaders asked it. They will come because they will be paid to attend. They will not come to stand in solidarity of belief. They will come because their masters ordered it. They cannot conceive of independent thought. Independent thought is not part of the Progressive left. The Progressive left espouses social systems that require that independence is suppressed.
The Progressive left embodies all that becomes tyranny. If the participants don't know that, it is because they are not part of the elite left, they are part of the Progressive peasantry. They are mercenaries at best, paid in handouts stolen from the productive. The shameless amongst them know it, the rest convince themselves that the plain evidence cannot be true.
But the death knell of the Progressive left is sounded. It has no resources to violate the three rules. There is no leader only a group of hypocritical elites who are just as rich as any capitalist, chains cannot come from the libertarians that they oppose so they cannot reveal them, and their systems cannot contain hope so they cannot supply it.
Glenn Beck is thinking in the long-term. He is building in his listeners a generation of people who do not need him. His listeners will fight not because he said so, but because they believe in their own freedom.
Eventually we will forget the principles, but at this time, the left will not win. Not by persuasion. And if they try violence they must reveal themselves to be from the same cloth as Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot and Mao. The left is caught in the headlights. They must retreat or pull off the mask of compassion to reveal the closet aristocrats and aspiring despots they really are.

The only relevant information about Glenn Beck's herd is regarding their participation in the political process. Their participation in political intramural activities is simply more useless herd behavior.
Are they registered? Do they attend regular meetings of public boards in their community? Do they participate in the party process in their neighborhood? Do they engage in the candidate selection and grooming process for their party? Do they vote in their party's primary election?
If they are not doing these bare minimum activities then it doesn't make any difference at all what else they may do individually or as a herd.
If they are already doing these things...then they don't need Beck.

Beck is part of a movement that is fooling anti govt people into supporting the govt. Some evidence: First, Beck is pro-war. One can't oppose the govt & still support it's imperial wars.
He urges people to vote & pay taxes. Participating in the govt's control schemes is no way to oppose it.
I'm not aware of Beck advocating phasing out programs like SS or Medicaid/Medicare.

JFE, Millions of Americans participated, with time, money and votes in 08'. Participation is a double edged sword. Knowledge, becoming informed on the choices to be made. I would not use the word truth necessarily because facts are whats important so you can determine your own truths. What transpired who participated and why they participated including their core beliefs during the past 300 years in America is material to where we decide to go from here as a nation.
My wife and I along with another couple were standing floor level on the Lincoln Memorial on Friday afternoon 8/27 looking towards the the Washington Monument. Glenn Beck arrived for his final look. My guess is their were several hundred people on the fence at the bottom of the steps. When he came up to greet them they milled around trying to see him. A few people went down the steps not many, the vast majority remained near the top. I heard several comments including one of my companions say that Glenn Beck was not what the event was about.
Personally, If any of you ever wanted to go to an event with fellow Americans, good people who care about their country, their Liberty and the future of their children, putting politics aside to affirm their faith in each other and the Founders Principals and you were not there. Sorry,You missed it.
Have you ever been in the midst of hundreds of thousands of people, no quarreling, no yelling and screaming, politely milling, sitting, playing with their children, grand children and even some great grand children. Well you missed a great opportunity if you were not there. Yes, by golly their was praying going on as well. No anti-war , social security, welfare state rhetoric just Americans expressing love of country.
Ever hear five hundred thousand people say Amen together as one. If you were not there then you missed it. Then these Americans gathered up their children picked up their trash and walked quietly away. If you were not there then you missed it.
Also it may be time to quit arguing over the deck chairs and concentrate on saving the ship.
