Pro-War Congressman Charlie Dent has taken over $101,000 in campaign contributions from the military industrial complex PAC groups. Donors include Halliburton, General Dynamics, Day and Zimmerman, Raytheon, Lockheed Martin, and L-3 Communications, which provided translator contractors at Abu Ghraib prison. Independent challenger Jake Towne commented:

"Since a prime source of funding for military-industrial companies are tax dollars, Dent is in effect merely recycling taxpayer money for his own political gain. I respectfully request the Congressman to return all donations he has accepted from these military-industrial political action committees as it is conduct unbecoming a public official."

"War and debt without end is ruining the country."

Towne has called for an end to the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, and has refused to contribute one dime towards extending either war by calling the annual $1+ trillion military spending as economically unsustainable.

Towne does not accept contributions from corporate PACs or special interest groups, while Dent has received 40% from PACs in this election cycle. 100% of all contributions to Towne's campaign are from individuals.

The data can be viewed here for FEC sources, amounts, and military services by each company provided.

Towne is a chemical engineer who worked in the semiconductor industry and resigned his job to abroad in Asia to return home and run for office as an independent private citizen. Towne has promised to accept only the median household income and not enlist in the congressional health care or pension plans. The remainder of the $174,000 salary will be donated to local non-profit hospitals. He also champions sound money and a novel-yet-simple form of accountable and transparent government, "Our Open Office."

The above was released in a press release on August 27, 2010. The campaign attacked the other Establishment career politician in the race, John Callahan, on the wars yesterday here.

Here are links to Towne's Iraq War and Afghanistan War planks.
