When "Radical Ideas" are not Radical

When a disease is serious and is life threatening, a more aggressive approach is better called for, and when the answer will work, but seems radical, it is really not radical- but necessary.

I am a typical American who has enjoyed my lifetime to date in "selected apathy".  I would ignore most of the homework needed for informed voting decisions and just listen to the canned rhetoric of the television, radio, and newsprint, each with a definite bias hidden from the concept of full disclosure and fair reporting. Political machines steer the media in the direction they wish and manipulate the voting masses via TV ads, slander "leaks", and misinformation. The special interest groups are guided by one simple principle, their monetary interests. It has become clear over time that such "monetary interests" have fed at the public trough, and don’t care if getting their candidates elected and special laws passed may hurt the long-term viability and economy of the nation.

The annual Federal spending is running at over $ 2.6 Trillion, up from $95.6 Billion in 1970 (27 times larger) and up from $1.78 Trillion in 2000 (over 46% larger). When I look at the National Debt at over $ 9.198 Trillion, up from $380.0 Billion in 1970 (24 times larger), and doubling just since 1992, I know this cannot continue forever. (Source: Budget of the United States Government, fiscal year 2008)

We WILL go bankrupt with our inability to pay future obligations if this does not stop.

We maintain active military troops in over 100 nations around the world and that may be a good deal for those nations’ defense to be subsidized by us, but it is not a good deal for us. Billions are being wasted by our leader’s "Nation Building" and we need those resources at home to protect and defend our borders, not against armed aggressors, but against illegal immigrants who are stealing our economic future by entering into our nation and demanding the same, or in some cases, greater economic rights than we have, without doing their time and paying their share. This policy is stupid and we need to pull out of those countries and return our troops home to protect our borders. Sound radical?

The "real key" to economic recovery will be when WE CUT SPENDING. I mean really cut spending. Sound radical? What has the Department of Energy or Department of Education done for you lately? Are students scoring higher academically and are those dollars used towards the Department of Education being used efficiently? Are we more secure against fuel shortages and the prices of oil through the efforts of the Department of Energy? How about agriculture? Do you feel good about farm subsidies and price supports? Are you looking forward to the Federal government administering a National Health plan with the same efficiencies as they do the Department of Education (which has doubled in this decade, while doing nothing of consequence to help or improve the education of our children)?

How do you feel about NAFTA and the Super Highway? Or the "Amero"?  What are your thoughts on the North American Union? What will give the dollar strength against all foreign currencies? Our dollar has fallen faster than the belief that there are Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq. What will stop it from declining to the point of destruction? When a stronger foreign currency is selected to replace the dollar for oil purchases worldwide from its sources, and the dollar continues to fall against that currency, how expensive will the future gallon of oil become here in America? Won’t that be fun? (Here is a hint- we have to buy that other currency while our dollar is falling, before we get to buy the oil with the other currency-hmmmm.)

Is there any taxpayer or citizen that believes that the Federal government is efficient? Really…..! Is there anyone that thinks we could not reduce Federal spending at least 25%? Is there anyone that believes that we should be selling our highways to foreign companies and believes that they can get any better "investment return" from those highway tolls than we currently receive…quot;WITHOUT significantly raising the tolls. Is this not another restriction to our freedoms?

So, if eliminating the IRS sounds radical, how do our budget increases and the national debt increases sound (all at the expense of the dollar’s value)? Revenue to the nation’s budget from personal income tax is about 45% of total revenue. (Source: Budget of the United States Government, fiscal year 2008

If we eliminate the Department of Energy and the Department of Education and bring home our troops from foreign bases, VOILA! We have really started to significantly reduce spending and then, the need for the IRS and the Individual Income Tax is greatly reduced and potentially eliminated. Still sound radical?

The minimum goal should be to get rid of the unneeded and significantly reduce ALL Federal government spending and even without a Personal Income Tax, we will have an annual surplus. Still sound radical?

How "radical" would it be for us to continue to sponsor the current economic insanity?

Each of us needs to drop our "selected apathy", look at the economic reality of America and the rest of the world, and become active in fixing this. The simple choice is Ron Paul.  Don’t just vote to fix, get involved and WORK to allow others to vote to fix- by the millions!
