Ron Paul Supporters Should Support Fox News' Decision
Here are some reasons Ron Paul's supporters should support Fox New's decision to ban him from Forum by John Armstrong

I once dated a girl for about a six months. I really liked the girl, but the girl was convinced I had cheated on her, and there was nothing I could do (including having the girls I supposedly cheated on her with call her) to convince her otherwise. She decided the best way to handle the situation was to ignore me completely. I really wanted her to believe me because what I was saying was true and for some reason having her believe me and accept me was very important. After calling and sending messages for a couple of weeks it seemed I'd need a different strategy to win. During this period at first I was angry, and then I was slightly depressed over the issue, but then it became obvious that I was wasting my time so I just moved on. I knew the truth and that was all that mattered.
This reminds me of how I feel about Fox News' decision to exclude Ron Paul from the New Hampshire Forum on January 6th. I have always voted Republican. I have always enjoyed Fox News. When I first heard this news, I wrote a letter to Fox. It was important to me that Fox believed me and understood Ron Paul's positions since he seems to be the one true conservative in the race. I really wanted them to accept my candidate. When they ignored me and other people like me, at first I was angry, and then I was slightly depressed over the issue, but then it became obvious I was wasting my time so I just moved on. I knew the truth and that was all that mattered.
I think its time that those of us who know the truth just moved on from Fox. If they are unable to accept the truth despite overwhelming evidence then there is probably another reason for that (maybe they are sleeping with someone else). They don't have to answer us or accept us. The sweetest revenge is to go kick ass so they are always reminded of what they could have had while we go find something even better. And this brings me to the point of my article.
As true Ron Paul supporters we should Support Fox's decision for a few reasons.
The first is that they are a privately owned company. Hootie Johnson of Augusta National Country Club has some fairly archaic ideas about who should be allowed to join the club he runs and play golf there. All of the public pressure in the world won't sway the man. And at the end of the day his decision may be silly, but it is a private club so he can do whatever he damned well pleases. Fox News is a private company. No matter what anyone says, Rupert Murdoch can do what he wants to do. Since Ron Paul's supporters are different from protypical Republicans (which sadly today seems to mean ignorant sheep), we don't fit what they are looking for. Supporting Fox News in this decision is to live by one of Ron Paul's core beliefs: the strict protection of Private Property Rights. Even if it is protecting the private property of someone with whom we vehemently disagree, these rights must be protected if ours are to be. Remember that Fox News should really be called Fox Entertainment since celebrities and scandals receive approximately eight billion times more coverage than inconsequential things like the demise of our dollar.
Secondly, we already have something better. We don't even have to look for it. I firmly believe that this election will mark the rise of the internet in American Politics. Four years ago I couldn't have written this and delivered it to you so easily. Very few of us would have ever heard Dr. Paul's message. Times are different now. The people who only use the television to get their news will be dead soon anyway. The kids in college now have had the internet since they were in Kindergarten. It astounds me when I see experts cite Dr. Paul's lack of organization as a reason he can't win. He has more people working hard for him than any other candidate. I know I personally got five more votes for him when I went home for Christmas. Five votes from people have never voted in a primary before. His organization is doing just fine. The internet is our hot new girlfriend. Fox is just the girl we used to date when we were insecure and needed someone else's approval.
Lastly, this only helps our cause. We all know that Dr. Paul's message doesn't play well in that format anyway. And his malicious exclusion gives more credence to the corporate facism statement he was talking about with Russert. Instead of wasting our time trying to get approval from someone who obviously doesn't care about us because they are in bed with somebody else, why don't we dedicate the time slot when the Forum is own to write letters and emails to every major and minor newspaper in the state of New Hampshire? Or to talk to someone who doesn't yet know about Ron Paul? Or to invite them over to watch the debate and then show them some youtube videos of the "man behind the curtain" whom they have been instructed to pay no attention?
The next step for this Revolution is to take our angst and vitriol and turn it into something positive. Fox News doesn't want new ideas; they want an enemy to unite against to sell commercials. They already have a couple of those in the "Islamofascists" and Democrats. Why give them another and help them make more money? We're better than that.
I once learned that you are responsible for three things in life: What you say; what you do; and how you respond to what other people say or do. You are not responsible for what others say, what they do, or how they respond to what you say or do. Let's take responsibility for this situation and show our old girlfriend what a mistake she made and how irrelevant she has become. Besides, our new girlfriend looks like she just might be a keeper.
Clarification: I'm not not saying don't write, call, and raise all kinds of hell about this. I'm just saying that if they don't respond, to hell with them. We don't need them.

are you kidding me? just roll over and die? let this company pull this nazi like censorship? who are you working for? you fox shill! take your fake ron paul supporting but back to fox and kiss theirs.
all real ron paul supporters had better be on the phone calling all of fox's advertisers like i am. i'm giving them the message that i now associate fox with nazi and communist dictatorships that censor my news and their products will now stand for that as well. i will let everyone know that fox and hitler are cozy in bed somewheres.
Amen brother. You and I are on the same page. This just makes me want to canvas even harder in January for the Georgia Feb 5 primary. I respect Fox's property rights, but that doesn't mean we have to take it. So my goal is to make sure to point out this issue to all my friends and family to show them how horrible Fox is.
Another thought, would be that they did this on purpose so that when they get all the crazy and threatening emails, they can put them on the air to discredit us even further.
A friend once told me, in a debate, then one who gets angry first, loses.
I happen to agree with you, John. Fox is sleeping with somebody else and it just becomes more clear when they act this way. The power of alternative media and Ron Paul's message will become clear when he does well in New Hampshire without the Main Dream Media. Faux is starting to squirm already; you can tell by the desparation of their hired
I know that I personally am boycotting all Fox sponsors and transfering my money out of mutual funds which hold News Corp stock first thing Monday morning.
But beyond that I am simply moving on and focusing on postive things I can do for the campaign. Such as helping to get the brand new campaign office in Edwardsville, IL up and running. :-
If Fox News continues to exclude Dr. Paul from the debate, it could be worth untold millions of dollars worth of free publicity. At this point, what would Dr. Paul get out of the debate, anyway? Three minutes of silly questions about the Civil War, earmarks, and term limits? Plus Faux News spin?
No, this exclusion could be fabulous if we do the following:
1. Finish in third place or higher in Iowa. This will make Fox News look ridiculous.
2. Promote a huge event to be held the same night opposite the Fox News debate. Â
What the hell, lets do it all. Let's call and e.mail Fox and its' advertisers. Lets ALSO re-double our efforts to get RON PAUL elected. And as for the Fox debate, how much impact can that little debate have on the outcome of NH? Some but not enough to hurt us terribly. One last thought....why DOES Fox hate the U.S. Constitution so much?
I've gone from being irritated by but otherwise indifferent toward Fox News to being upset enough to, if the exclusion stands, boycott all of Fox News' advertisers indefinitely.

If you were never a dyed in the wool Conservative like I have never been, and came to the dark side because a humble man named Ron Paul happened to reside there, then you, like myself, would have known about Fox News all along. Ann Coulture (sp?) Sean Hannity,

I got cut off too.
Â
In a nutshell, shame on you for supporting this time of Fox behavior before. The Neocon agenda was largely responsible for accepting this...
Â
Also, I too, think this is a strategic boon for Ron Paul. Be firm. Be pleasant. But be hopping mad. Americans will gravitate toward an underdog who has been wronged. It will give Ron Paul more attention and interest, and goes along nicely with his soft fascism rhetoric.
I agree with your premise that Dr. Paul supporters should support the FOX decision but for different reasons.
We should accept their decision, not because it is Rupert Murdoch's right of private property give him permission to lie and cheat but because it plays into our hands.
America loves an underdog and American will bend over backwards to help someone who has not been treated fairly.
In other words tha more FOX screws Dr, Paul that more support he will receive.
Boycott anything having to do with Rupert Murdoch . After all just because he has his rights as an owner does not take away our rights to spend our money where we want to.
They can't stop us!! its too big for them there loosing there grip on the people and soon we will be free again. dont ever give up!! we will support RON PAUL untill the end

I agree with Scott from Oregon that there should have been outrage towards Fox before this incidence.
I'm still not sure if I agree with John Armstrong about supporting this move by Fox, but what else can be done? We have to stay positive and positively enraged and take that passion to the streets and to the people and to the voting booth. In the end we can serve a lot of crow to the subversive fascists and their bedfellows for their failed attempt to silence us and the man who awakened us, Ron Paul.

To Whom it may Concern,
I am writing to express my disappointment and displeasure upon discovering Dr. Ron Paul will be excluded from the New Hampshire Debates. Dr. Paul has placed #1 among Republicans AND Democrats at AOL's spam-proof poll. Dr. Paul LEADS ALL Republican candidates in fund raising this quarter. Dr. Paul is tied for third place in IOWA. Dr. Paul's support is known to be great among Independents, former Republicans and Democrats. Surely these people deserve to have their candidate heard! Dr. Paul Is the MOST searched for candidate on the internet. The exclusion of Dr. Paul from these debates would be for me the final convincing piece of evidence that we the American citizens are no longer in control of our destiny. Once the process to file FEDERAL complaints via the FCC is automated, you may expect a flood of letters to your affiliate stations stating FOX affiliates are NOT acting in the public interest.
First of all let me tell you that if anyone believes that Ron could change one thing even as elected President is living on Mars. As a german watching over the pont let me tell you this- this time it is really really important that you do not mess it up- Talking about facsim- we had a great deal of that. But there is no such thing like a jewish conspiracy at work even if the numbers say otherwise- First of all Murdoch is Murdoch- and than a long time nothing- He loves his game and now after 50 years working for his empire he is at the top. Now he is a real workalholic who trust no one not even in his family. He cannot loose his grip to power, and as he slowly feels the drain of time he becomes even more agitated- so much to do but less time... His own mortality is the main driver right now.- building a company that will outlive him long enough- maybe a 1000 years?

Scotty,Â
In one of my first articles here about the war on islamofacism, I stated that I was a formerly intelligent but ignorant Bush/Iraq war supporter. It follows logically that I would be Fox fan. The sad part is that when I was that guy sleep walking along before I saw a
People instinctively do whatever it is you tell them not to do. For example, tell a child not to play with matches, and they will spend the rest of the day trying to find some way, ANY way to do exactly what you told them NOT to do! I think for most of us this is just an instinctive want to know, just what it is we're missing out on. The same rule applies to all this censorship of Ron Paul. The more the media tells us NOT to pay any attention to him, the more we want to. It was media censorship which initially brought Ron Paul to my attention, and now I'm an avid supporter who will caucus for him on the 3rd. You see, when he was excluded from the Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance debates, that caused a record number of people here in Iowa to take notice of him. In fact, he drew more people to his rally than ALL the other candidates (who were admitted to the debate) COMBINED! Censorship is quite effective, however just as Ron Paul often points out, so is BLOWBACK! Thanks to the Internet, I have both fully replaced, AND will enjoy watching the slow and arduous death of the OLD media -- including the death of Faux News.

Fox News' corporate sponsors would no doubt be interested to know that, due to their affiliation with a corrupt and biased network, we are boycotting their products. Here is a list of contact information for Fox News' sponsors.
Please write to them to voice your disapproval of Fox News' decision to exclude a legitimate presidential candidate.

An excellent article, I agree. I've supported Paul for over six months, and while I'm proud to be part of the movement I've become slightly tired of some of my fellow supporters promoting Dr. Paul in ways that are contrary to the overall message. You can't force peace through war. You can't change people's minds by screaming and name-calling. Screw fox news...do you guys really think they're our target audience?
Big difference between Hootie Johnson (and Augusta National) and Fox News. Augusta National doesn't rent its fairways from American citizens. Dare say if they did, their policies (which I agree with ) would be forced to be much more politially correct. Fox News leases the PUBLIC airwaves from the citizenry of the United States. The have a fairness doctrine which they agree to live by. This isn't remotely fair. It seems if Fox wants to stick to its guns and exclude (Ron Paul) whose message is politically relevant, then they should lease airwaves on an island somewhere in the Pacific where no such fair play is required, and hold the debate there.
I totally disagree with Armstrong. The arrogance at Fox News needs to be challenged. Freedom and the market need to be allowed to intervene. Therefore I am calling every Fox News advertiser I have time to on Monday 12/31.

While I do believe that the exclusion of Dr. Paul in the 06 January 2008 debate could impact Fox in some negative way, I would remind the readers of this forum that there are still millions of Americans who do not receive their information from the web. Many of those Americans, a few of which who would welcome Dr. Paul's message, depend on Fox and like organizations for their information. The same can be said for newspapers. I personally know scores of people with whom the message of Dr. Paul would resonate, but they have not yet, as of 29 December 2007, heard of Dr. Paul. I try to inform them as I see and talk to them, one by one; yet, beyond my conversation with them, they have no other information about Dr. Paul. Do not, therefore, underestimate the role that the traditional media will play in this election. If Fox and the other networks can keep Dr. Paul's face, his name and his/our message off their screens and out of their papers for a mere forty more days, they will have gone a long way to ensure his defeat. They could not care less about our passion and our resolve. If Dr. Paul were on a national ticket, after the primaries, I believe that we would have some leverage with the sponsors; however, in the short time left, I do not believe that we can effectively leverage sponsors.
That having been said, I have spent the day sending e-mails to Fox, to known sponsors and to newspapers in New Hampshire, including those of the colleges. I believe that the most effective way to leverage this is to get the story out in New Hampshire and in those states having primaries before the big primary day. We must make Fox news the story; however, we cannot sit back to watch Fox become the story, we must make that happen. Get self-produced press releases out to the small newspapers looking for space to fill in South Carolina, in Michigan, in Nevada, etc. Get the story out to college newspapers in the states with upcoming primaries. Make Fox the topic.
1. Acknowlege the property right of Fox to exclude a candidate; highlight freedom of association and let it be known that Dr. Paul would fight for Fox's right to exclude someone.
2. Â Â Focus in on Fox's claim to be "fair and balanced" and then ask what is fair and balanced about excluding any candidate of any party but particularly one who has won the poll after every televised debate in which he has participated, who is winning the one-line AOL poll, who has the greatest present of any candidate on the Internet, who has raised more money than any other candidate and who is climbing in the "traditional" polls, and is, in fact, ahead of some candidates not excluded.
3. Ask how Fox can be an organ which champions military action as a means to further democracy in the Middle East, an action costing the lives of Americans and the wealth of our tax payers but does not seem to be able to accept its role as an agent of true democracy in America in that it excludes candidates like Dr. Paul from debates.
Use Fox as a means to get out the message of Dr. Paul, and drown your kittens in the warmest possible milk - no cold water ad hominem , etc.
robert m. peters every words made sense, brilliant article and suggestion, thats a way to ridicule peacefuly your opponent p.s. can not wait to hear from cnn and fox after ron paul won at new hampsire, iam sure the only chance they have as invite a roomful of peopleagain and try to explain no ron paul did not win this poll, they gonna look very stupid for sure
I can still support the folks that want to call and freely give feedback to a company which is advertising "fair and balanced" news, yet providing a cheap imitation which breaks at the first hint of stress. A bad product from any company should get appropriate feedback.
However, I find your analogy even more constructive. Â No matter how much we might try to cajole or threaten Fox News into behaving respectably, they will still follow their own course (which appears to be that of a whore at the moment). Â A more constructive mindset is to shake of the disappointment, and work all the harder at enjoying the new Internet relationship which provides such amazing enrichment.
Fox's viewership will decline as people see more of this type of ridiculous bias and their credibility burrows into the basement. Â Why would any thinking person trust Fox for his information at this point? Â What else are they excluding?

FoxNews has become mostly smut and fluff. I call it INFORTAINMENT. Rarely do they provide stories of substance. Almost never do they offer information that is empowering. They have close to zero credibility with me. In fact the same can be said for most mainstream media outlets. They are owned by corporate conglomerates and don't have our interests at heart.
Haven't you seen the YouTube videos where former FoxNews employees come forward and describe the practices FoxNews uses to manipulate information and disseminate propaganda?
Kudos to those who can still think critically, but to those of you who are inspired by the cars and pharmaceuticals and financial services advertised on FoxNews...ha ha...snap out of it already! ;)
You make some good points, but one important piece I think you mistate. Certainly Fox has property rights and could choose to exclude or incloude anyone they want on that property.
However, you forget that I have property rights too. And I can choose to buy or not buy from sponsors based on any criteria, including dislike of what Fox chooses to do with their property. They can, and probably will, ignore me.
I certainly would never suggest, and would oppose, any suggestion of governemnt involvement in either Fox's decision or in my own.
We've gotten so used to everything being either banned or mandatory that we forget it is possible to decry someones actions without even suggesting that their actions be outlawed.
Fox "news" = oxymoron
I challenge any of the "top tier" candidates to have the balls to comment on this. And "no comment" is not acceptable. Either they stand for something or they are playing us all for fools...shame on us for electing such
a pack of liars and hoping they would somehow do the right thing. I guarantee none will say a word.
Speaking of doing the right thing, it is the resposibility of the New Hampshire Republican Party Chair, to make a public statement that this omission of Ron Paul is unfair.
Anything less and he has shown his disrespect for the process of a fair election. I do not buy the crap about it's not up to him, that it's a Fox News thing etc.
He needs to rise above the b.s. and tell it like it is, regardless of who he might support.
We wonder why so many people are disgusted with politics as usual?
I am VERY greatful to FOX for banning Ron Paul. Extremely greatful.
I did not think anyone so stupid as to ban Ron Paul after the beating the R3VOLution put upon the Iowa Taxpayer Reform Whatevers. But hey, FOX News to the rescue. Just when I thought the fun was over, and we were just going to have to suffer through the election process, FOX comes along and gives new purpose to those who want to show up in droves and misbehave.
Walk away?! Are you crazy!!!! This is opportunity with a capital O. Fun times in Manchester for sure. Are you gonna be there? And if you are then you might as well go early [like right now] and help out (10,000 beds available).
You fail to consider that Fox holds an FCC license... as a mass media source, Fox's unscrupulous actions manipulate the outcome of a federal election.Â
“A free press can of course be good or bad, but, most certainly, without freedom it will never be anything but bad. . . . Freedom is nothing else but a chance to be better, whereas enslavement is a certainty of the worse.â€Â Albert Camus
The problem with that is, your old girlfriend is stupid and is most likely in denial. It's a schism. Reminds me of a CS Lewis story about fools walking through eternity eternally with a destination they never reach. Fox has already marginalized itself but not amongst fools. Need to crash their party.

Having an alternate event is Ron Paul's way to handle these rejections....We couldn't be proud of him if he always lost his temper and made a scene, so I think it's the best example of how we can more effectively behave. This was a good article, and I didn't think so when I first started reading it...It's NOT saying roll over and play dead....It's saying get out there and do whatever you can to get Dr. Paul 3rd in NH...THAT'S THE BEST WAY TO GET BACK AT FOX .....AFTER THAT, if there's anything we can do to pull Fox's FCC license, we should do it! Can they prove Ron Paul didn't "follow directions" to register?????? Can we prove he did????? They have side-stepped all our proof that Ron Paul SHOULD be in the debate by saying we simply didn't register on time.
Why oh why did I become interested in politics? I knew there was something wrong in the country. Something very drastically wrong, just by the way people were succumbing to laws which were being changed. Too many. To fast. What was happening? Then I was hearing from people, that congress and our government were corrupt.Â
Our local newspapers were not the source I needed to satisfy my curiosity as they were not reporting anything of signifigance when it came to trying to understand all this rapid change taking place. I couldn't get my curiosity satisfied by the news on tv either. Â
So then I turned to the net. Now here were some answers ! I started to learn and relearn things that I had forgotten. I found out that our government was corrupt. I got to read about all the protest. I never saw that on tv. I got to find out also that these protesters were not being listened to. I wondered why . Then I found out about globalism. Now I had to learn about something else. I took to the politics chat rooms on yahoo and pal talk. Now I had some real feed back. I got to hear what other people from all over not only the nation but the entire world had to say. More research. Â
Now I had to learn how decipher the fact from the fiction.
I found credible websites. Many of them from other countries. They don't censor their news. and I learned when Bush went to canada to meet with the prime minister there and the president of mexico meeting to make a deal behind the backs of the American People in order to merge our borders with theirs. Which would completely eliminate our constitution and our rights as we now would be under a totally different kind of government.
The United States media completely blacked this news out, but the bbc news out of canada knew about it and they reported it. Everyone in the world knew it, except, us.
The new WAS on the web. and when your on the web, news spreads like wildfire especially in the chat rooms. There is lots of news in there. Everyone has links to one website or another. I was able to now discern the fact from the fiction. The web has caused Bush, if you have noticed to calm down a bit.
I became aware that this is perhaps the most important election in the history of this country. I have the tool to check these candidates backgrounds. Their voting records, what they have said and what they have done.
Sick of lies, I was now in search of the candidate I felt would turn this country around. Some think it will never turn around. Maybe they are right. Maybe they aren't.
With the knowledge I had gained in searching, I now knew to figure it out I must pay attention to what the people of the world were saying. America did get a small portion of the news that Bush had gone to that meeting to try to erase our country as we know it, but not until AFTER he had done it. For that reason, I turned to canada's news, iraq's news, ect. I started to compare what each country's news was saying. Fishing Bush out of his slimey pond was no easy task but it was doable. Then we learned about his cabal of five and how corrupt Washington D.C had become.
When push came to shove, the candidate who became the shining light, the one who makes the difference, it turns out is Ron Paul. The whole world was and is still talking about him. I dug and dug and dug on him. The more I learned the more I came to love this man. No news media on tv does him justice. I love this web tool. Nothing spreads better than word of mouth. You tell two friends, and you can back it up with things you have printed out, and they start researching and they tell two friends... and on it goes.
Now after all this work that I have done, (I never even thought of it as work til now) I have my answers, and I have my mind made up. Â
I want to keep my freedom, I want people to realize just how important our constitution is and just how cemented it is. There is no place like home. There is no one like Ron Paul. Media? Their a joke. censored and not telling people the truth, bought off and sold out. I don't trust them any farther than I can throw them. Glad in a way my candidate isn't in the mix of the lies they will spin. I will be out telling people the truth instead of watching faux news and the rest of the story. Remember, they work for US not the other way around. I have about as much respect for the news circles on tv as I do for Bush. Let me tell you that is ZERO. So people can and will complain about this round table discussion that Dr. Ron Paul won't sit in at. It doesn't matter. They never gonna learn. Why should Dr. Paul waste his time? He won't. His people will get to go their own rally. and listen to Dr. Paul and not have to listen to the proverbial pundits. Let the REVOLUTION continue ! Â

You tell two friends, and you can back it up with things you have printed out, and they start researching and they tell two friends... and on it goes.
Now after all this work that I have done, (I never even thought of it as work til now) I have my answers, and I have my mind made up.
My apologies for sounding ignorant (I just returned from vacation and am only learning of this story now). Two questions.
1. What was the explanation from Fox News as to why they excluded Congressman Paul from the debate?
2. Is it true that Fox News invited Fred Thompson to this very same debate when he is polling lower than the Congressdman?
Thanks.

It seems to me that all TV networks received their marching orders to suppress the Ron Paul message and silence his voice. Today, all the three major networks, ABC, NBC and CBS took pains to muzzle Ron Paul and avoided showing his picture or the mention his name.As far as the debates or the forums organized by the GOP and the various networks for their Presidential candidates, I think it is a shame that the Republican Party Bosses allows the charade of excluding Ron Paul or any other candidate from these forums/debates.Indeed, any candidate who takes part in this attempt to control the American people’s right to freely elect their President betrays their Freedom of choice and reveals their naked attempt to channel the vote outcome in favor of their preferred pro war candidates.Candidates who accepts to participate if Ron Paul or any other candidate is excluded will prove themselves selfish, un-principled, opportunistic, un-democratic, un-American and consequently unworthy of our trust.
First off there is a major error in your thinking. You say Fox News is a private company, which it is, but the AIRWAVES are public property. They are leased by the news companies to spew their crap to the nation. If you want to change Fox, change the FCC. A
As for moving on, I agree with you. Who cares what they say. We just raised 20 million folks, lets raise 30 million this quarter and kick their asses.
Good piece but I have a few bones to pick. At what point did you ever find Fox News worthwhile? It's a horn for a party and in no sense, an honorable news source.
The bigger issue is that broadcasting companies (in principle) are responsible to provide public services, in exchange for the license to broadcast. In that sense, they are not just a private concern. In this case, keeping Ron Paul out of the debate is indefensible.
