Why I vote Ron Paul
:ISSUES:
Foreign Policy We should trade with countries and stop meddling with other countries with seemingly little regard for the consequences. In Iran we overthrew a somewhat democratic government to install the brutal Shaw. Because Mohammed Mosaddeq, who won the election, wanted a fair price from British Petroleum. Or Hugo Chavez, in Venezuela; because he wanted to re-negoniate new oil contracts to bring in more money to the country. So the CIA supported a coup in 2002 and threw Chavez in jail. But the Venezuelans intervened and restored President Chavez onto his elected seat.
People want to know why there are 'terrorists' who hate us with such zeal. That hatred doesn't primarily come from our domestic policies. Which Neo-Conservatives and the Media would have you believe. That makes no sense. When a child hits another child, we ask "Why did you hit him?. The child will usually say: "Because I don't like him!". Now typically, a good parent will know that there is probably some specific reason as to why the child hit another and so they dig a little deeper. Why haven't Americans dug a little deeper? Yes, there are fundamentalists in the Middle East who hit or would like to hit the U.S.A. And like most parents will tell their child: "It's not right to hit someone even if they've done something wrong to you". But doesn't the parent still tell the child who was hit that he can't or shouldn't do the things that caused him to get hit in the first place?
But like most children, the U.S.A. continues to take things that don't belong to them under the guise of: "We're bigger than you". The foreign policy of the United States has created a bully effect for the United States and have reflected poorly on its people. Because, like most bullies: We push and push and push until we get our way. But when we're pushed back, we pull back.
The best of example of this was in Korea and Vietnam. In Korea, we were sent in under a U.N. resolution as North Korea invaded the south. America went in, but the inexperience in this sort of warfare made it nearly impossible to achieve any sort of success. Plus, without the support of the congress (in the form of a declaration of war) or the American people, Eisenhower was elected to end the war and the U.S. pulled out (although there are still tens of thousands of troops stationed in the south) with no progress being made. Vietnam was a similar situation only the communists eventually took over the country. In the end, both wars claimed an estimated total of 6.3 million lives.
I'm not a pacifist, but involving ourselves in foreign affairs are far too costly in human life.
It is imperative to the U.S. economy that we pull troops back from over 100 countries across the world. That we cut foreign aid to all countries, including Israel. And to those freaking out over pulling aid from Israel, keep in mind that we give aid to her enemies as well. And according to the OECD website (http://www.oecd.org/dac), Israel isn't even in the top ten of most funded countries. Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, Sudan, Jordan and Pakistan all were given more aid. Israel has over 300 nuclear weapons, a standing army, Air Force and Navy. They not only can take care of themselves, but would likely crush EVERYONE else in the region.
Trade is a much more common sense solution and America would be wise to lift sanctions against all countries (ie, Iran and Cuba) in order to improve relations with other countries.
Taxes I hate taxes. I feel the income tax is unconstitutional and infringes on the U.S. economy. Republicans (namely Mike Huckabee) say a flat tax would benefit the economy in place of the IRS (Huckabee briefly stated he wanted to drop the IRS, as well). And I'm for a flat tax...of zero.
And why not? If you eliminate our extravagant foreign policy, it should largely off-set the cost of whatever the government would lose on the income tax (Note: About 33% of the U.S.'s income is reportedly made by the income tax). If I had my way, I would simply have no taxes period and let the U.S. make money from the tariffs. But since that would be impossible I would simply eliminate the income tax, and not replace it with anything. The states charge their own income tax and that is their constitutional right. But the federal government has no right at all to impose their will to wrongly tax the populous.
And to those who say: "Just tax the rich and eliminate the tax on the middle and lower class"; that would most likely put the U.S. into a full recession. Suddenly businesses would be forced to raise prices far ahead of the money people could spend, because to democrats, the income tax would still be around. More credit card's would be defaulted and businesses would likely liquidate their stocks only to find that the secretive federal reserve doesn't have enough to reimburse those businesses. Which brings me to the next reason I'm voting Ron Paul.
The Federal Reserve Not many people bring the Federal Reserve up. And why not...the media certainly never talks about it. And that's just the way the government likes it. When Bill Clinton was asked by congress to make public some of the Fed's happenings, in which he promptly shut that attempt down, he effectively said that a transparent federal reserve would destroy the stock market.
Because of its secretiveness, not much a lot can be directly put on the Fed. But the Great Depression is largely attributed by the Federal reserve. Today, however, stock market bubbles (real-estate, etc) and inflation are constant criticisms of the federal reserve. And also, because of the federal reserves 100% opacity, we don't even know if the gold is still in the building! And if that's the case, we're passing out useless money.
Some feel we should return the gold standard. While this is ultimately where I feel the U.S. dollar should head, it's impossible to simply enact something so simply without massive repercussions. Rather, gold could be introduced as a competing currency. This would take the strain off of the dollar, making inflation much more bearable. Private mints could be re-opened and able to coin there own money. Businesses could and should accept this currency as it would have more value to begin with. The gold standard was working fine when it was taken away in many countries, in 1914. Why wouldn't it be good now?
I am probably least educated in this area, and most of my knowledge comes from the viewing of a single documentary. So please do not take what I say here, or anywhere else as utter truth.
Social Security, Welfare, Misc. I'm a 20 year old college student. When I retire, social security will have next to nothing in it. That being said, why do I HAVE to invest in it when I know it won't make good on its promises. Ron Paul has the right idea. Don't take away social security to those who are dependent on it, but give people the right to get out of it so they can look in the private sector. Also, he would aim to discontinue social security benefits to illegal aliens. One less incentive to come, right?
Welfare. When was it the government's job to rock people to bed every night by sending them checks? If the government didn't tax people so much, they wouldn't need to sleep ion cardboard boxes. As it stands, business and people pay taxes. Than people pay taxes again for the purchase of each item. It doesn't make any sense it all yet people are so used to doing this that they consider Paul's view 'radical'. It's common sense. You get rid of over taxing the people and give people their money back with tax credits. Bam...the money you used to pay the government can now be used to rent an apartment.
Ron Paul has the best way to halt illegal immigration: Stop giving them benefits. It sounds simple but congress doesn't seem to agree. Apparently, the U.S. needs to save the world, not just by promoting democracy, but by giving illegal immigrants amnesty for the 3rd time. It's a difficult situation to handle if you don't want to infringe on the rights of the common man (ala National ID card). But Paul's sound advice should gain traction even after the election. Tom Tancredo would be proud.
I had never heard of the Super Highway, the AMERO or even NAFTA. Now that I know more, I'm scared. As a Christian (hooray for Christian bashing...oh...I don't believe in evolution, either), I feel the more I hear about a NWO, the more I feel the end of the world as we know it. Laugh all you'd like, I'm not one for fire and brimstone and saying that the world is going to end tomorrow. Honestly, the world will end when it ends and I can't do much about it. I'm just saying that Christians should take a deeper look at how the other candidates feel about American sovereignty.

Congratulations! Twenty years old is a great time to begin rescuing our nation from the death spiral of an empire in decline.
I hope you are a registered Republican and that you know when and how to participate in your monthly GOP meetings as well as the upcoming primary or caucus.
Remember, when it comes to politics nothing we think matters at all if we don't DO what it takes to shape our local government with our thoughts. It is the activity, the day-to-day stuff, the breakfast meetings and Christmas parties and fund raising events where political influence is nurtured. Elections are harvest time. If we do not plant and tend those crops according to time-honored methods, there will be no harvest. It isn't rocket science and it isn't prayer that runs the political engine, it is participation. One-by-one, each of us accepting the inconvenience and the burden of representing our values in our local government. The lack of this participation is how the Neocons took control of the party and it is the ONLY way they can maintain control.
The Ron Paul revolution has set loose a horde of new local participants. Only those who stay involved will have any lasting effect on our, and their own, political futures.
