Illegal aliens are not a race

In a world where words are critically important those who are supporting both amnesty and complete open borders misdirect and misinform.

This misdirection and misinformation is the key to rallying many Hispanics against Arizona and ICE. Without any real ability to point out where the laws are targeted against a specific race groups like La Raza and the Brown Beret continue to insist the laws are race related and the race targeted is Hispanic.

Reading through the details found in Arizona's new law there is no indication race is being targeted. In Section 1 the wording is quite clear when it states; "The provisions of this act are intended to work together to discourage and deter the unlawful entry and presence of aliens and economic activity by persons unlawfully present in the United States."

At no time is there any specific target for any race. Illegal aliens are people staying in the United States without legal documentation for being here or unlawfully here. Those living here illegally would be addressed under the classification of unlawful entry and presence. A key factor is a focus on unlawful activity. Any citizen not partaking in unlawful activity is safe from these laws.

Who among us support unlawful activity, especially the level of crime associated with murder, human slavery, drug dealing, kidnapping, and other similar crimes the Arizona law is targeted toward preventing? Are Hispanics supportive of this level of crime? Other than those who are actively participating and profiting from criminal activity a researcher would be hard pressed to find any that would stand in favor of such crime.

When that crime is associated with a person residing in the United Sates illegally laws must be focused on stopping this person's activity. Reading through the laws it is obvious none are set to racially profile any specific group. Those living legally as documented aliens, immigrants striving toward citizenship, and citizens should expect and support protection from the criminals. States are required to protect our life, liberty, and property. Our federal government is required to oversee proper naturalization, provide common defense, and protect the general welfare of the people.

Those protesting against the Arizona law or federal laws targeting unlawfully driven illegal aliens are misguided or, worse, deceptive. It is easy to see how many can be drawn to protest based on race. Leaders wanting open borders and amnesty, including those in our federal government and other state governments opposing the state law, are very good at twisting the truth. Knowing the truth many protesting would no doubt agree crimes being carried out by aliens who care for nothing but money, power, and personal gain are unwanted in our neighborhoods. With two presidents supporting the effort to overturn laws geared toward protecting citizens it is not hard to understand why there is confusion. The easiest way to remind ourselves protesters are wrong is to remember an indisputable fact; illegal aliens are not a race.

Hi Gary,
Thanks for keeping it real. Illegal immigration is a symptom, not a problem that can be solved by direct assault or by social engineering policies focused on it as the problem. These approaches lead to only divisiveness by tending towards either absolute protectionism or open borders. Instead, it is a symptom of incongruous economic policies between neighboring countries and trading partners and must be addressed with economic outcomes in mind.

Average working Mexicans need a constant source of income because the government doesn't subsidize their lack if they do not. In the ceaseless quest for tomorrow's funds many have come to recognize that the potential earnings in the USA are higher; enough higher that the risks, from the dealings with border agents and smugglers, to physical hardship, financial hardship and perhaps even death, are worth it to many.

We need a system kind of like the public school teachers have today that provides regular income all year despite the long seasonal breaks. We need a system that accommodates the economic realities by abolishing the minimum wage and limiting union power over production and capital utilization, holding them ransom for unsustainable pay guarantees. We need a system that provides a willing, legal and fluid labor force. Fluid geographically and fluid financially in the way teachers can be. We will never, ever, have a government that will pursue true solutions. Their only incentive is to pursue political strategies that depend on perpetual conflict as both sides pursue unrealistic and diametrically opposed unattainable goals.
