I recently received a question via e-mail from a conservative Republican who likes my ideas, but wishes I would not run outside the party. They wonder why I want to destroy the two party system. Here is my response: by Billy Roper

Dear Shirley,
Thank you for your sincere question about my campaign for governor, and for your stated support of my ideas. Why will I not pay my money to be listed as a major party candidate? Because both parties are corrupt and run from the top down to appeal to the widest, most moderate voter base. Because neither of the two parties would accept me as a candidate, with my ideals. Because the major party leadership lack any integrity. I was a College Republican activist for Huckabee during his Senatorial campaign in 1992. He's only half the man he used to be, in more ways than just the physical. He's called a conservative in the GOP, but he stated in a speech to the Arkansas Baptist Convention that he believes that because of our collective guilt for our historical mistreatment of Blacks, Whites owe it to Hispanics to be especially welcoming and tolerant. That's why, as governor, he pushed to have taxpayer funding of scholarships for the children of illegal immigrants. To me, that's not very conservative. I simply refuse to compromise my values to mollify the "Log Cabin Republicans" who support homosexual marriage, or the Neo-Conservative Republicans whose only measure of foreign policy is what is in Israel's interests.
I don't flatter myself by thinking, as you suggest, that I could destroy the two party system. But if I could, I certainly would, as tweedledum and tweedledee need to be torn down and the whole rotten edifice rebuilt according to the values of the people who built this country.
Historically, there were a lot of colonists who asked Patrick Henry and Samuel Adams why they didn't just try to work within the system by continuing petitioning parliament or their royal governors for a redress of their grievances. I think that what put the Dems in office was Republicans being so namby-pamby and liberal themselves that patriotic Americans with traditional values couldn't vote for them as anything better than the lesser of two evils. To me, the lesser of two evils is still evil. It's time for a third party. As a write-in candidate, I'm basically running as an Independent. If there was a man, regardless of his party affiliation, who represented my values and ideals running for the office, I'd certainly not bother. But someone has to be forthright and honest and stand up to lead where there is a vacuum of moral courage. I'm willing to do that. However many people are willing to follow by writing in my name for Governor, we'll find out this November, I suppose. I'd appreciate your consideration of being one of them, too. Thank you again for your time and thoughtful question.
Best Regards,

Instead of trying to destroy the two party system and putting the Dems back in office. Why don't you pay your money and run on one or the other tickets, with
your great ideas?

Dear Shirley,
Your Question: "Republicans are the Party of WANNA BE RICH. The Democrats are the party of the WANNA STAY POOR. NOW where is your PARTY?" is an excellent one.
Frankly, with up to twenty million illegal immigrants in our country right now, and more coming in every day...with a President, who is an illegal immigrant himself, who is surrendering traditional national sovereignty to foreign nations and international treaties and the United Nations, such as with the small arms treaty and global environmental laws...with trillions of dollars of American debt being held by the Chinese and others...with current demographic projections indicating that within our children's lifetimes, the people who built America will be a minority in it...the Nationalist Party of America (http://www.nationalistpartyofamerica.com) is the party that wants to stay American.... See More
You're absolutely right that if a person runs on a major party ticket, they have to abide by that party's platform and compromise their beliefs in order to make the party bosses in Washington happy. I can't and won't do that, and that's a major reason why I will not run under a major party ticket. George Washington couldn't remain a British army officer. Robert E. Lee couldn't accept the generalship of the Federal army...and I cannot run as a Republican.
I realize that a governor is limited in what kind of policy decisions he can make, especially in regards to national and international issues, but we all as patriots have to try to do what we can to take our nation back. There may be some who can run for public office themselves. Others might be able to make donations, or pass out literature, or direct people to the NPA website, or tell their friends about our efforts. Others might just be able to help by writing in Billy Roper for Governor of Arkansas this November. Really, it's not one person doing everything, but a whole lot of folks doing a little which will ultimately make our victory possible. That's how our nation was built, and that's how we'll take it back.
Thank you for your sincere input,
Billy Roper

Billy, its very unfortunate that Huckabee became so power hungry that he had to get stupid with dumb remarks. He was trying to play the Blacks and Hispanics like Clinton did in order to get a vote. I believe that a person with ideas should put those to use if they are concerned about the people of this country and want to serve them. So many of the people that run for office are not servants but want to be served because they are so ego driven. I think Gov. Huckabee makes a great Fox News host and he needs to stay with them.
Again, I suggest that the Republican ideas are good and they have a better platform than the Democrats and the people that run on either ticket is going to have to abide by the platform of the party, no matter what ideologies that they bring to the table, now if they are smart enough to get other folks in Washington to change the way they think than their chances of a better government will work, Regardless, of the party. Again its a POWER EGO, they run on.
Republicans are the Party of WANNA BE RICH. The Democrats are the party of the WANNA STAY POOR. NOW where is your PARTY?
