My views on Obama and his potential choices to the Supreme Court. by Jay Wendt

Obama currently has the opportunity to nominate another Justice to the Supreme Court. He has to make a choice that will appeal to conservatives, yet not alienating liberals. However, I do have some advice for Obama: nominate the most qualified candidate that will not EMBRASS you!!! This most likely will not happen since he nominated numerous other appointments that are both grossly under qualified and have proved to be embarrassing; most notably, a tax cheat for Secretary of the Treasury that claims it was a TuboTax error. So let me go over the most talked about Supreme Court possibilities.
Elena Kagan: Solicitor General and former Dean of Harvard Law School. This is the candidate most talked about by the media, and according to some sources is the frontrunner for the appointment. However, she is also the least qualified candidate for the position. If I were going to appoint someone to the highest Court, I would like them to have a substantial record as a Jurist. Kagan lacks any actual experience in litigation or in the courtroom, beyond being a law clerk. To put it frankly and bluntly, Harriet Miers was more qualified to be a Supreme Court Justice then Kagan. Kagan's nomination would be a joke.
Merrick Garland: Appellate Court Judge. He would make a good Supreme Court Justice, unfortunately he is a White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant, Male. Obama will not appoint that combination to the Supreme Court. If he were, he would have appointed Garland when Souter retired. So, Garland's nomination will never happen.
Janet Napolitano: DHS head and a former Governor. NO!!!!! She has proven herself to be inadequate to her current assignment. She also has shown herself to be partisan, which is a quality no one wants on the Supreme Court.
Diane Pamela Wood: Appellate Court Judge. She seems to be fairly balanced as a Jurist. She would be a great Justice. However, I do feel that more conservative members of Congress would block her nomination until the end of time.
Leah Ward Sears: former Chief Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court. She is the best choice out of all the possible choices. Highly qualified, knowledgeable about the law, and constitutionally oriented; Justice Sears would be an asset to the highest court in the land. I still don't understand why the media hasn't put her on the top of the list
