Before a man was a slave, is it true he was a free man? Or, was that man sold by another man and how did that man come into possession of that slave? Were there men of power who owned the land? How did that person come to own the land? Who set it up so that the land was for sale? If you were to continue along this string of questioning you will come to realize that it is the land that owns you. People seize power over all. So slaves were seized by bolder men and those men took power over other men by forcing thier will upon them. These are the same bold men who are of business and run for politics. Bold men are politicians, and politicians want to force their will on others. Today's slavery comes in the guise of GOOD WILL, on the boat of entitlements. You will sail across the sea of freedom shackled to the oars of complacency and land in the world of missed opportunities.
The forefathers that ran for office early in this Union were the free men of a free land trying to live free of taxes and oppression. Here in these United States just 300 years ago there was no one from the old world who could keep this land from its inhabitants. Today, politicians have a different overtone all together. They want to make this right and make that right and everything fair so; many laws are passed to girdle our liberties. Politicians became the slave traders of the 21st century. The captain of the boat is called government and he owns you, the taxpayer, also known as the oarsmen in shackles.
How does one enforce the law? Well you may need a police force. This is what the people wanted so they all started to pitch in for it. They created offices and bureaucrats to deal with it. To set up the government to deal with all these hassles costed money. Everyone has to pitch in.
So what if I don't want to pay for it. The majority of who do want it will force those who don't want it with laws of imprisonment or coercion. So why does the many get to rule the few? Are the few now slaves to the many? This is the reason for the filibuster in the senate. If enough people oppose the majority, then the law cannot be passed. Now we have become a nation of laws and laws destroy freedom.
Now we have 2 Slave masters, the Government and the Big Business. Big business owns the land of missed opportunity. You can now settle here although you will never own your own business, and you can work for me to buy your freedom from the government. You pay them in taxes, and you pay me by spending your money in my town. "You can rent those apartments from me or you can buy that house from me". The apartments you pay rent directly to an owner or buy land and then you still have to pay a mortgage payment and then property taxes. Don't forget the ridiculous percentage rate you pay for these loans. What is for sale for $20,000 now coasted you $32,000 after paying the interest.
Each time this country introduces a piece of entitlement legislation it shackles more people to the oars of complacency. Who needs to work hard if everyone is pulling? I say, "No, let me to live free so I'm am accountable solely to me". "I promise not to harm others". If I decide to help someone I will give to a charity. I trust they will do a better job than the government. Stop allowing our government to shanghai this great nation and selling us into slavery for generations to come.

I once read a great quote that said : Slavery is being shackled by things you do not choose; Freedom is being shackled by the things you do choose. The idea of course is that, either way, man is shackled, the question is, are you shackled by something someone sells you to, or are you shackled by something you like?
I really liked your article. It put things into prespective. We are all slaves to something, but are we slaves to what we choose to be slaves to, or are we going to allow ourselves to become slaves for something someone else wants. It's kind of like that line from the song FREEWILL by RUSH: If you choose not to decide you still have made a choice.
