The Malignancy of the Liberal/Progressive Ideology

At the conclusion of the American Revolution many of the Crown loyalists simply packed up and went home to England. It was a simple pragmatic solution to the problem of continued loyalty to King George.

With the conclusion the Revolutionary War it was apparent Tories had nothing political, moral or philosophical to contribute. The Tories did not accept what the Founding Fathers had proposed or the comprehensive personal Liberty Americans Certified with their Blood, Treasure and Sacred Honor.

It was the individual Colonists who left thier families, shops, farms and factories, took up arms to stand beside their fellow Colonist, believing, and rightly so, that it was in their best interest to do so. They were outraged at the Crown's actions, beginning with Taxation and ultimately ending with the taking of Individual Liberty and Lives. This illustrates that usurpation of individual liberties no matter what form it takes leads ultimately to the same conclusion. The capability of the Colonist to act with authority vividly demonstrated to the Gentlemen in Philadelphia the importance of the Individual's right to the means of self determination.

It seems not to matter to progressives that their ideology is totally incompatible whenever, wherever or by whomever it is adopted, by any society based on Individual Rights and Personal Responsibility. Their ideology in fact separates them from the debate on enhancements to self governance by Free Men.

To the point, progressive ideology is one and the same with Cancerous malignancies. If steps are not taken the body politic will wither and die as will the cancerous physical body. Symptoms of malignancies do not express the same way as a mortal wound, they progress more slowly.

Most of us have known a person with a Cancer, initially most show no outward sign of the disease. The same can be said for the progression of modern communism on a free society. For a time, as the malignancy progresses its effects are shielded by the apparent health of the victim. Malignancies can attack a weakness whether real or constructed by the malignancy itself. Either will consume the good, while at the same time constructing evil.

Progressives blame the progressive weakness of the body on the body itself obscuring progressive culpability. The constructed failure of markets by progressive regulatory Fiat is not evidence of the failure of Capitalism; on the contrary it is the symptomatic proof of the progressing ideological malignancy of communism.

We are constantly dealing with those progressive malignancies, exampled by the current housing crises, healthcare and the lack of a coherent energy policy, all constructions of progressive policies. Further evidence are the lies and deceit involved in the construction of the "anthropogenic" global warming crisis designed to create even more control over the individual. The effect of this is to divert us from a very real goal of enhancing and promoting the power and influence of the responsible individual.

Marxist principals are in fact a cancer on the Fundamental building block of a free and open society. Marxism cares not for the rights of the individual. In the end Marxist, progressive collectivism demonstrates itself to contribute nothing to the human condition other than feudal existence and intolerable subjugation.

The history of the 20th century, without exclusivity, is a testament to man's ideologically driven insanity. The preeminent ideology that created one incredible human disaster after another, is Communism and Fascism, coupled with statism. It exists in many guises and has been practiced by many dictators. Over the last century the world has experienced Lenin, Stalin, Moa, Castro, Pol Pot, Hitler and Tojo, Left wing progressive ideological Statists all. That experience, it seems a lesson ignored, has led to the loss of hundreds of millions of lives and will in all likelihood repeat itself if left untreated.

"Statism, Government control of a country's economy, any kind or degree of such control, by any group, for any purpose whatsoever rests on the basic principle of statism, the principle that man's life belongs to the state."

"Conservatism: An Obituary,"
Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal, 192.

We need a more educated and thorough understanding of the methods in use today by modern progressives. The essence of their approach is patience and obfuscation beginning with the unbridled spending allowed by the 16th Amendment, Creation of the Federal Reserve. Social welfare programs created to deal with a depression constructed and nurtured by Government and then the creation of the United Nations. Designer business, energy and environmental regulations codified for and with the blessing of organizations with progressive agendas. Denying individuals the power of their own purse with paycheck withholding of income, social security and unemployment taxes. Local governmental control through building codes, zoning, planning, then even more local business, environmental and energy regulations. Historical distortion, personal and character assassination through never ending lies on matters of fact. Purposely self destructive immigration policies and political correctness in the name of fairness and equality, neither of which are a part of the progressive agenda. The construction of a welfare state designed to destroy individual character and responsibility. Progressives never, if it can be helped, miss an opportunity.

To begin dealing with this malignancy we must first begin to pay attention to what they say their agenda is. We must not have a tin ear to what is said, from Engels and Marx to Obama, the intent is to fundamentally change our system then enslave us with their ideology. Communist, progressive, fascist, and statist are involved in a pseudo-intellectual pathological pursuit of the subjugation of Americans that will never cease until we prophylactic-ally deal with them.

Once we are convinced with the sure and certain knowledge that they will never ever give up their assault on our Individual Liberty, there may be ways of dealing with this malignant ideology. One bitter potentially self destructive pill would be to deny a fundamental rights to the "practice" of their progressive ideology, rights now being used by progressives to deny us our Rights, for the expressed purpose of fundamentally changing the Foundations of our Union.

Can a case be made that our Inalienable Rights are in fact just that? Is there an enumerated Right in the Bill of Rights that empowers one individual the right, without Cause, to deny others of their Rights. If so which one? Are we bound by The Constitution and Bill of Rights to accept in practice the loss of rights, inherent in the systemic practice of an ideology whose foundational goal is the subjugation of the individual? Are we bound to accept individual as well as societal suicide by the Bill Of Rights? Are we not bound to respect the individual's beliefs as long as they make no attempt to deny ours? Is the mere attempt to put into "practice" progressive communism/collectivism a conspiracy in fact?

Can we Codify Truth and Responsibility as an enforceable principal of self government, while at the same time strictly adhering to the precepts of the Bill of Rights? Can we accomplish this in a multiparty system? Remember the story of the small town Lawyer who starved until another Lawyer moved to town? Well a multiparty system creates a similar situation. It seems not to be about truth so much as it is about who can tell the most believable lies or the lies we most want to believe. We can vote out an individual, how do you vote out an entire party?

How about this?

Move progressives to central Nevada, build a fence and leave them surrounded by desert and millions of heavily armed free men, dedicated to the preservation of Liberty. Yes, quarantine them, provide them with the tools of Capitalism along with small arms for self defense, Being surrounded by progressive collectivists, they will surely be in need of the means of self defence. Within a short time the surviving born-again Capitalists would be singing "Don't Fence Me In", not "Cum By Ya" and pleading for repatriation. This new progressive state could extend from Austin in the west to Ely in the east, Battle Mountain in the north to Tonapah in the south. Austin would make a great capital, I considered Ely but it may be too avant garde, for a new progressive collectivist state capital; just a thought.

Sorry about that Nevadans, It comes down to Nevada or Wyoming. Wyoming is needed for its oil , natural gas, cattle, water and coal. Nevada's mineral wealth would soon highlight the greed that motivates non-Liberty loving progressive collectivists. Since they are attempting to and have succeeded on many fronts to deny us our Constitutional Rights, do we not have the right or even the duty to reciprocate?

Something to think about, progressives, saddle up!

Hi Bentree,

I agree with many of your observations but not many of your suggestions.  While I wouldn't dispute your cancer analogy I dislike it.  I find far more relevance in the differences than in the similarities you described.  von Mises summed up this distinguishing characteristic in two words, Human Action.

If you base your behavior on those similiarities,as your suggestions indicate you might, then you have dehumanized the opponent in order to rationalize an ends-justify-the-means solution.

Blaming a party for the kind of candidates it produces is like blaming a gun for a murder.  You have for some unfathomable reason decided to deal with tools and the various consequences of their use without acknowledging the indivudual humans who use the tool to create those consequences.  Assuming your oponents away isn't a viable strategy, forcibly destroying anyone who may differ from you isn't a viable strategy either.

JFE, I'm not trying to draw a direct correlation, more of the process of progression. Progressives are the prototype humans, with a character flaw and there are more of them than not. It is only human to deflect responsibility, to want somebody else to provide for your wellbeing, to cheat. To skip the hard work. and go directly to the rewards. Take the easy way out. What can be more human than that?  They are endowed with the same rights as the rest of us, right up to the point they try to  deny others their  rights. Do the founding documents bind us to personal or societal suicide?

Progressives/Marxist/Statist/Fascists/Communist/Obamaites make their living off this character flaw.

Don't you think that the founders understood this character flaw? The purpose of our enumerated rights is to codify a means of self defense. What then if that fails?

Character highlights the problem while  at the  same time defining the solution.

The parties provide a hiding place, one no different than the other.

If someone comes into your space and threatens your existence , your freedom, do you have the right to protect yourself, no matter the means?

You have the right to believe in the subjugation of the individual to the collective, I have no problem with that, it's the practice that creates the problem.

When our current president stated on the campaign trail his goal is "To fundamentally change the way America does business", it seemed very few liberty minded individuals asked what he really meant.  Our founding fathers would be ashamed of this and prior generations for our apathy at the eroding of our individual liberties.  Where are the voices that will truly bring to light the diaboical intent of those that through "progressivism" would destroy our great nation?  In reality such actions can only be described as "EVIL".
