Texas runoff Likely between Perry and Medina

A runoff is likely between Governor Rick Perry and conservative activist Debra Medina in the Texas GOP March 2 primary.

As predicted yesterday in my previous article voters are moving from both Governor Rick Perry and Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison over to the Medina camp. Medina is the only candidate picking up the undecided voters at this point.

Public Polling Place released a poll today reflecting the growing anger among the base of the Republican Party in Texas. The data shows the Perry is down 7% from November to 39%, Hutchison down 7% from November to 29%, and Medina is up 20% from November at 24%. The margin of error in the poll is + - 4 points which statistically could place Medina in front of Hutchison. Statistically Perry could still win the race if he is + 4 points (39 + 4 = 43) and receives all of the remaining undecided voters (43 + 9 = 51) which is highly unlikely.

Texas is a run off state where if a candidate does not get 50% a runoff will be scheduled a month later. With only 9% undecided it is clear that a runoff is very likely but the question is who will the runoff be between Perry and Hutchison or Perry and Medina? The polling data shows that if it is Perry/Hutchison they would be neck and neck with 18% undecided. The data did not show what a run between Perry/Medina would look like. Would the Hutchison supporters making up 29% vote for Medina?Commentary is very slim talking about a runoff between Perry and Medina but shows that a lot of the support Hutchison is getting is purely an anti-Perry vote mostly by self identified Christians.

Medina also has received the endorsement of the Republican Liberty Caucus earlier this week again showing the conservative wing of the party is slowly moving towards Medina.

If Medina can't get enough votes to win outright, then we need to ask whether she will face Hutchinson or Rick Perry.  I'm pretty sure it will be Rick Perry, but you never know.

I would rather not see all that money wasted on a failed campaign, so it would be better if these two spoilers, Hutchinson and Perry, just drop out now so that the party can unite behind Debra.

I am really hoping Perry wins. I like that he is not afraid to stand up to the U.S. Government and threaten seccession. I support Texas secesssion, i beleive it will very shortly become nessassary for not only Texas but other states if they want to survive. But i have listened to the debates, none of the other candidates support seccesion. I feel that if Perry dose not win, Texas last hope for independence will be lost.
