Ron Paul, Abe Lincoln and Occam's Razor Do historians alway tell the same story?by Robert Werden

The media loves to pick apart candidates statements to try and put them in the hot seat in this stage of the election. Ron Paul is no exception to this stage of attacks as we can see.
In this case the attacks seam silly but they are important, because the last thing America needs is a candidate that says something then backs down at the first sign of confrontation.
Go to the book store and pick up 3 books written about Abe Lincoln written around the time of his Presidency by different authors and you will get 3 versions of history.
Do the same for current Bush, a writer who supports Bush will portray a different account of Bush as President than an author who writes an unauthorized biography. Even the different news stations report the same breaking story differently depending on the agenda.
In order to find truth you need to know the motivations of a President to determine why he did something. In the case of Lincoln Occam's razor comes into play. What is more likely to have happened to push Lincoln into a war against the southern states? Was it the slavery of Africans by plantation owners? Or was it the threat of losing the economic strength of the Union by States leaving the Union?
Did we go to war with Iraq to free the enslaved people of Iraq from Saddam? Or did we go to war to make a base of operations in an oil rich area of the world with in spitting distance of other Muslim countries?
These events in history are distorted by the stated intentions of the Presidents prior to getting the congress or the UN to approve the action. It often takes years to put aside the feeling of being fooled and embarrassed before people speak out in mass.
This fear of speaking out is coupled by the fear of being ridiculed for not speaking out against these lies, both before it was too late and after for not having the common sense to realize the deception before it happened.
I have to say that I am thoroughly impressed by the honesty and genuine love for America Ron Paul has displayed. He has been a lone voice of reason for years in these issues. He spoke out against the failed Iraq war years before and after it happened. Not many people in the Congress can lay claim to having that type of record of being correct on both sides. He see's the history books as a guide rather than an accurate account of what really happened. He takes the events and studies them using Occam's razor as a guide to find truth.
Truth is what Ron Paul is all about. He does not take things at face value, and this is the most important aspect of being the President. If a President can not see past the lies and weed out the motivations to see the truth that is being distorted, then he can not make the command decisions that will keep our country safe.
Ron Paul has clearly demonstrated he has this keen ability. It is the key factor that has brought him a following of hundreds of thousands of supporters as well as almost 20 million in donations in 1 single quarter of fund raising.
Ron Paul has not only forecasted the failings in Iraq, he has forecast the crash of the mortgage market and the decline of United States currency. He has forecasted the fall of proper health care by pointing out the intrusion of powerful insurance companies and drug companies into Washington. How many more times must he be proven right by his forecasts coming true before we listen?

The Unionists were losing the war until they rechristened it from "The War for Union" to "The War for Abolition". Then they "magically" started winning. This tells us there were 2 motives for the war: 1) The Federal Government's motive to maintain power over the States and 2) The military men's motive to fight for liberty -- even the liberty of races other than their own.
This speaks better of military character than it does of Federal government's character.
Let Ron's Abe message ring in the South. It could up the Revolution if they see that RP does not believe everything that the government propaganda has said over the years regarding Lincoln and the Civil War. Many true Southerners still feel as though government propaganda won out via school history textbooks; the hiding of many Civil War documents (even to this day); etc. Their case has been hidden by the elite.
Go Ron Paul...speak the truth. Let any and everything be exposed.
After reading THE REAL LINCOLN and HUMAN EVENTS a few years back, my hope for our Republic increased. If the U.S. of A. could survive the Lincoln attack, we just might be able to survive the present attack. Lincoln turned the Constitution inside out. He suspended every right throwing news men into prison.
And when Ron tells folks they need to learn their history, maybe they could start with the Emancipation Proclamation wherein Lincoln freed all the slaves . . . er, except those that were actually under his jurisdiction.
Yes, my Ron Paul friends, all this has been going on for a long, long time - since about say, 1776 and certainly by 1787. There are those who love big government. Those who believe government holds the answer to all of life's problems.
Then there are those who love liberty, and here at the beginning of the 21st Century liberty lovers have found a proven leader.
Thank you Tim for giving Ron another opportunity to display his wisdom and knowledge!
The amount of Kool-Aid the Ron Paul zealots drink is amazing. Lincoln was NOT president when secession began. James Buchanan was. Southerners fired first, at a federal military installation. To argue that the war wasn't about slavery is intellectually and morally dishonest. Lincoln's anti-slavery rhetoric toned down the closer he got to the presidency, but the Southern states seceeded from the union why? Because they opposed his policies, and slavery was the central issue. Cherry-pick Lincoln's quotes (which pretty much matched most everyone else) but the fact remains he opposed slavery. Not the revisionist nonsense that closet racists are pedling. Lincoln made no secret that his primary goal was to preserve the union, even if he had to maintain slavery. That's a public comment he made. It was his job as president to keep the nation together, not to stand aside as Southern governments committed treason. And the legal babblings of the right to secede are just that. Nothing in the Constitution permits it. If Maine decided tomorrow to secede because the rest of America wasn't buying enough LL Bean, would Ron be OK with that? Ron Paul's arguement here is the "original intent" of the founders, ie. the Articles of Confederation that did allow some wiggle room for leaving the union. But the Constitution does not, and it was in place in 1860.
The central issue of the entire Civil War was slavery, and it was the pervading political issue for a generation. To suggest that the federal government merely buy the slaves (which Lincoln as a Congressman tried in a small scale and was rejected) is absurd. The Congress was split on slavery, and would never have reached an agreement to spend money to buy slaves. The Southern reps and Senators would have revolted because the economic and cultural institution of slavery was part of the fabric of the South.
And where does Paul suggest those purchased slaves be set loose? In the North, where the common contemporary attitude about blacks was only fractionally better than it was in the South? Or does he proposed they should have been shipped back to Africa?
Paul is showing a staggering lack of grasp of U.S. history. He is a dangerous Trojan Horse filled with terrible, odious ideas.

I've been drinking Ron Paul's Kool-Aid for over 10 years and find it refreshing.....IF YOU LIKE THE TASTE OF LIBERTY! Neocons and Liberals are both dedicated to the continuance of the welfare/warfare state. This CIVIL WAR detour is designed to divert the simple minded news media away from today's real issues. Dr. Paul has the solutions and more people are waking up to this fact in spite of their weak attempts to discredit Dr. Paul. The common sense doctor always seems to come out on top.
