Libertarians Awake

Quit wasting your time, energy and money. Do something useful

Libertarians! Now hear this!

You are wasting your time, energy and money supporting the mostly useless exercise called the Libertarian Party.

From Jahfre Fire Eater we have the wise words:

"This damage allows the forces of oppression and those who intend to wield government force to eliminate their opposition to advance in the confusion. The progressives progress while their intended victims bicker over minutia. They didn't bring this country to the brink of collapse into socialism over night. They didn't waste energy trying to promote a third party or demonstrating in the streets. They spent a few years and a few million lives taking over the Democratic Party and controlling it for the past 70 years. They spent the last 40 years taking over the GOP and now progressives control both parties. Bickering over the emperor's new clothes will not undo that rot and set this country on a course for peace and prosperity. It takes effort to go into those parties and physically take control back from them, one position at a time."

Note that our hero Ron Paul choose the Republican Party as his path to the power he has and the attention he receives. Bat yourself on the side of your head with that fact. You should disband the party and change it into a movement. Then work at getting your selves, Independents and Tea-Party individuals to take the power over candidate nominations away from the RINOs in your local Republican Party organizations. While doing so you can preach about our support for liberty. They will listen. At the least the voters can have something other than a choice between two evils to vote for.

A former Independent Republican or a Tea-Party Republican candidate will be far better than a RINO. A Libertarian Republican can also win. Ron Paul did. Have some faith and confidence about what you can do!

I neither embrace nor reject your suggestion here.  But I will say that your last sentence points out (nay, screams) the problem with your proposal.

You cearly see the "RINO" as the enemy.

Now then, who actually *is* a "RINO?"  I hear people called RINOs for various reasons.  Was Dede Scozzafava in NY-23 a RINO, for instance, because she supported big spending and unions?

Or did people call her a RINO because she supported Marriage Equality and marijuana decriminalization and abortion rights?

Half the time people are called "RINOs" for liberal social  positions that are consistemt with libertarianism.  Conservatives seem to think that libertarians should just shut up and follow them in a purge of RINOs, but RINOs can be just as useful in the cause of liberty as conservatives - depending on the issue.

There are not two factions (Conservatives and RINOs), but THREE...

Thom S.

I see RINO as defining a Republican who operates as an employee of the party leadership.  The only non-RINO I am aware of is Ron Paul.
