An Open Mind is important to me. Is it important to you?
A major objective of my life is to know the truth about a subject of interest. I believe that having an open mind is important to achieving understanding in the follow way. I love to be proven wrong. "What?" you say. How can you love something that can be a major embarrassment to you?
My having a judgment about the truth of something is derived by my applying logic to relevant and factual information about the subject. If it is demonstrated to me that my logic is flawed or that my information is false or not relevant then I have been proven wrong. You say "What the hell is so great about that?"
Well, being aware of my mistake, I can correct a flawed judgment and change it into a correct judgment. The greater is the embarrassment by being proven wrong the stronger is the recording on your brain about your new truthful understanding. Having done this I have increased the probability that my views about my world are correct. I place great value on such an improvement. Don't you?
