Confederate Flag in danger

Dicuss the endangerment that is being shown on the Confederate flag and Confederate heritage today.

In todays society the Confederate flag in under attack by groups such as the NAACP and other anti-confederate groups.

1st topic: Georgia State flag.

For years the Georgia flag displayed the state seal on one side and the Confederate Battle Flag (Christian Cross of St. Anrews) on the other. Recently though, despite opposition from the majority of the states population, the flag has been changed to appear as the 1st National Confederate Flag because it is, as some would say, less offensive.

2nd topic: KKK and Neo-Nazi organizations.

For years groups such as the Ku Klux Klan and Nazies have used the Confederate Flag in their hate crimes against certain races and nationalalities. Because of this, many people now veiw the Confederate flag as a symbol of racism and hate. These groups have dishonored and are ruining the Confederate flags once great reputation.

3rd topic: South Carolina State Capital.

Atop the dome of the South Carolina state house, there once were three flags, the American, the South Carolina flag, and at the bottom, the Confederate Battle flag. Recently, the NAACP convinced the state that the battle flag was offencive, and the battle flag was hauled down and placed in the yard of the capitals ground beside a confederate monument. Offten standing in front of this monument, you can find a man named H.K. Edgerton, former presedent of the NAACP, holding a Confederate Battle flag and supporting the idea that the flag should be placed back on top of the state capitals dome.

4th topic: Confederate flag in Florida.

The local Tampa chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans raised a 30X50ft Confederate Battle flag at an intersection of two major Florida highways. The local NAACP and other groups protested this flag and even took in to the state legislature. In the end, the flag stayed because it was on private property. But the flag was still threatened non-the-less.

So you see, the Confederate flag and Confederate heritage is under attack by modern society.

Hi Levi,

Your observation is dead on.  Liberty demands tolerance.  Liberty fosters diversity.  The progressives will make a big stink about your flag then the right wing will legislate against it in God's name.

Lucky for you though, libertarians will agree with your right to that flag both before and after the government removes it.

As a PROUD decendent of a great Confederate General, I am appalled by the IDIOTS of the KKK and Skinheads who have disgraced this great and proud flag with their hate. The South fought for states rights, NOT slavery. We are again seeing the same situation the begat the Civil War. Government doing as it feels and stepping on our Constitution. All who think the Stars and Bars stands for hate need a history lesson. Long Live The South, it will rise again!!

"Under it we won our victories and its glory will never fade.  It is enshrined in our hearts forever" ~ 1st. Lady, Varina Howell Davis

Confederate Battle Flag With The "St Andrews Cross"  was not the only, but She was the most known and used late in that great war. She is the most, hated, debated, misrepresented and beloved  of all Confederate symbols. She has been tarnished by groups as the, naacp "by way of slander",  kkk, aryan nation, skinheads, neo nazi, white supremacy clowns...Just to name a few. She was not a national flag, nor was She a politician's flag, and most defiantly not a flag of hate!..."She was a soldier's flag" a banner of courage, honour and a call to duty. She was a rallying point for battling warriors. Many died to keep Her safe and out of enemy hands, this Flag was stained with the blood of our Southron patriots. Last, and most important...SHE WAS AN AMERICAN FLAG!!

As Southron, we owe it to ourselves and noble ancestry to protect Her and hold Her in reverence. We must stand up to those that slander Her, for that slander is slander toward us and our past. We must never let our past be removed from our future.

American principles are under deadly attack both at home and abroad. The last place in this country to hold the Founding Principles was - and remains - the South. In fact, to preserve what was then being destroyed, thirteen Southern and border states attempted to leave the larger Union and form a confederacy based upon the Constitution and the Founding Principles; they failed and the result is the tyranny we now see in Washington and elsewhere. But it's up to the people of the South to stand up for their heritage, to repudiate the use of rogue groups like the KKK as weapons against it and to strongly oppose the politically correct crusade to consign their heritage to oblivion. Those of us who stand with them cannot do it because we are not citizens of those states under attack. The South will stand - or fall - by virtue of the courage of its people. Considering what Southerners were willing to endure in the past, it would seem that being called a few names by the racist NAACP and  other liberal panderers is little enough to endure in defense of such a noble cause.
