Congress' house is on fire and they are out working on the car! The economy is going to hell in a handbasket and congress ignoring it, as they argue over health care.by Roland

Thats just the way I fell about what is happening in Washington D.C. For some reason it just don't sink in. The ordinary American family who strive to get by and succeed in this Country, See's this deranged conduct of Congress and the President worrying about the health care to the extent it dominates all media coverage, while the economy creeps toward complete collapse! Is all this about finally obtaining control of the Legislative and Executive branch of Government? So the failed agenda of so many years is now in the cross hairs and achievable only at this moment thus pull the trigger now, before its to late. What kind of mentality is that, when all things are considered health care would be near the last (if considered at all) of decisive action needed to get ourselves economically straightened out. It is my contention that the average American is in no mood to listen to all this bickering, nit-picking, and partisan arguing in congress about health care when the obvious condition of country in general is a mess. That is to say, unemployment for some reason is not even addressed, unless in some positive manor by stating, "it's not a bad as it was when I took office" and we pushed and passed the Stimulus Bill to create, "shovel ready jobs". The average American is wondering where is the promised stimulus we need? We paid for it, you said it would work, why are all you jerks off on a tangent doing health care when everything is falling apart behind you?
This false sense of security, that is thrust upon us daily by the liberals and their media road show, has about run it's course, sooner rather than later it should be exposed for what it is, a farce, window dressing, and an inexcusable waste of both time and money! If just one person with authority, would stand up and say, "STOP THIS MADNESS" and lets get this economy running before all else, put, health care, cap and trade, stimulus 2, and any other government created solutions on the back burner, we can argue them when there is time, not now! I wish a conservative would say this, but he don't, he is still fighting off the ,"public option" just as the liberals want. Why is it so obvious to us but not them?
For months we have been pounding the solution, as we see it, We have stood up in the town hall meetings, and made them at least listen to our logic, we have had tea parties all over the Country, marched on the capitol, but they go back to their caucus , get their dose of liberalism, and return to the socialist agenda, take from the rich , give to the poor, no mater how the rich obtained their status or how devious many poor can be. Hard work, creativity, ingenuity, fortitude, are all descriptions of success for many of our families and businesses, all being the backbone of America. I am tired of so many taking advantage of the government programs, relying on monthly checks from the pockets of their working neighbors, it is really a contagious sickness which is about to take over America completely.
This is as true as it can get, when the American government gets lost in the purpose of it's existence all our freedoms guaranteed in the constitution become vulnerable, as it is today, the more government offers to your existence as a person, and the more you accept, the less of a person you become. Your hard work, creativity, ingenuity, fortitude, no longer are needed, as they are all taken care of by your government. That is the true liberal way of life, and we all become numbers rather than people.

Everything you say is true but it doesn't seem fixable at present. The cabal at the top have improved their abilities at propaganda and media manipulation. Most people still watch network TV. One cannot gather any real information there.
We'll get "ballon boy" "Jon & Kate" and watered down news. A few passing words on troop losses in the two wars and on to the next curiosity.
It might take riots in the streets before anything can be done.
Roland, this is an excellent article that I wish more people would read to get a better understanding about the principles that our country was founded on, and how they have been ignored by our government. And I think that until the government sets out a plan to deal with the fundamental structural problems in our financial system of too much debt and not enough capital and savings, we cannot have a sustainable recovery. So, as an investor who is trying to preserve wealth in this messed up system, even if the stock market stays irrational in the shorter term, in the long run I believe it will go back to reflecting the true nature of our boom and bust system. So that's why I still feel that for most people it is safer to be in cash and gold. In my opinion the gold price will continue to rise due to a lack of faith in the government's policies and in fiat currencies. I recently found some very good articles on these topics at http://www.goldalert.com/, which discuss the relationship between the dollar, the gold price, and gold mining companies given the Federal Reserve's monetary policies. The article called "Gold Price Up, Dollar Down - Does it Really Matter?" was particularly useful to read to get a better understanding of the relationship between these asset classes, and to become familiar with the consequences of all the money printing and its potential effects on our currency.
